Llandudno Lions Boxing Day Sea Dip for local charities - entries now open...all funds for deserving local charities...Friday 26th Dec.

The Lions Club of Llandudno have just announced the details about their annual Boxing Day Sea Dip in association with St George's Hotel on Friday 26th December, and entries are now open!

The check in will be at 10am ready to go into the water at 11.30am (tide permitting). One of the organisers, John Chambers, suggests that suitable footwear should be worn and all the proceeds will go towards Alaw Ward (Cancer Ward) at Ysbyty Gwynedd, and local Lions Charities.

John added: "This is a unique chance to raise funds for a deserving cause of your choice and to help Llandudno Lions Club. All registered swimmers will also receive a special certificate memento of the event, and prizes will also be awarded for Fancy Dress."

Photos at Rhos by Danielle Peevor, Dougie Graham and others.   It was another fantastic event and a new attendance record at the Llandrillo yn Rhos parkrun, held for the first time on Christmas Day, with over 600 finishers on a bitterly cold but bright morning, and it was similar at the Nova parkrun with over 300 entrants! Elite athletes, and club members from near and far, together with local runners and walkers – and many in festive attire – created a warm and friendly atmosphere despite the freezing temperatures. It was another jam-packed and fun-filled occasion on Saturday morning at the new Llandrillo yn Rhos (Y Promenade) parkrun last Saturday following a record-breaking attendance on Christmas Day. Despite the freezing temperatures and a generous covering of heavy frost around the region, with the icy conditions causing the cancellation of rival events at  Conwy  and at  Nova , the Rhos parkrun, possibly aided by a light layer of sand at key points, was given the green light, much to the delight of 576 eager entrants. Conwy photos by Michael Finnie.  donhaleblog.blogspot.com/2025   There was another very good turn-out at the new Y Promenade, Llandrillo yn Rhos parkrun last Saturday where, following the council clear-up of the sand last week on parts of the course, two new event records were smashed, whilst other entrants recorded 114 new personal best times in total amongst the 406 finishers. There were some 226 newcomers to this popular fourth event, with many wearing festive attire to add to the usual warm and friendly atmosphere of this fast and furious parkrun. The Nova parkrun at Prestatyn was one of the best attended local parkruns last Saturday morning with 285 entrants including local club athlete Tom Carter, who was the first finisher with a new PB in 17 minutes and 15 seconds, with the first three finishers all recording new course PBs.
