Hot pace on a warm night for the club relay teams.

Members of North Wales Road Runners took part in their annual team relay challenge last Tuesday night on Llandudno promenade amidst glorious sunshine and very warm conditions.

Eighteen runners competed in six teams of three, with their average times over 5k estimated to help equalise the competition.

The event, which included each runner targeting a specific distance, was well organised by Carla Green, with support from John Hatton, Elizabeth Driscoll and others, was eventually won a team consisting of Gwennan Charlton, Molly Evans, and Kevin Slattery, who finished in an overall time of 28 minutes and 34 seconds.

The runners-up team included: Mark Davies, Richard Scamans, and Molly Evans in a combined time of 28.34, with all the team finishing quite close together. After the relay race, some prizes were presented by club chairman Kevin Slattery at the ROAB in Llandudno, where everyone enjoyed a celebratory meal.

Report by Don Hale https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com   There was a good mix of club and social runners at the annual Holyhead Breakwater 5-mile race last Sunday with nearly 200 entrants enjoying a well organised event, which also formed part of the NW Regional Championships. Visiting track star  Samuel Roberts  (Retford AC), (*pictured right), who is the 23-year old eldest son of Welsh International triathlete  Llyr ApGeraint-Roberts  (NWRRC), was the first man home on this undulating course in just 24 minutes and 7 seconds, with  Josh Griffiths  (Swansea Harriers), second and in close pursuit, finishing in 24.19, whilst local athlete  Sam Gunning (Cybi Striders), claimed third place in 27.05. Carla Green finished well as the third female athlete in 24th place in 23.53, and she also won her VW50 age cat.
