The Welsh Athletics Award of Honour were presented to Ian and Amanda Broadhurst during the Northern league at Queensway by Wrexham AAC Club President Bernie Jones.
Amanda has been a member of Wrexham since she was 13 and has served the club with distinction as an athlete and coach.
A versatile athlete who won the Welsh U15 Pentathlon; U17 & U20 Heptathlon; and Welsh Senior Heptathlon in 1990 Amanda has continued to serve her club well. 

She has represented Wales and Great Britain and has medalled at Welsh, British, European and World Masters Championships across a variety of events. She generously gives her time to coaching the current and next generations not only for club members but athletes across Norrh Wales.
Amanda is held in high esteem by all in the Club and was awarded Honorary Life Membership in 2009 and a Welsh Meritorious Award in 2012.

Ian Broadhurst (*above) has served the club as an athlete and sprints and hurdles coach. By 2005 Ian was representing Great Britain and competing in World Masters Championships in sprints and hurdles. He has won titles at Welsh, British,European and World championships for masters and has also been World record holder of a number of age groups.
Like Amanda he coaches sprints, hurdles and horizontal jumps and is also involved in the coaching and development of multi-events. He also delivers strength and conditioning sessions for athletes.
In recognition of his services to the club and the sport he also received his Meritorious Award in 2012 and was made an Honorary Life Member in 2017.
Both have given and continue to give so much to the sport and are well deserved recipients of the 2024 Welsh Athletics Award of Honour. Many congratulations and apologise it has taken so long to present the award.
