UPDATE: NORTH WALES CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE

Unfortunately due to issues beyond our control (bookings at Eirias Park) we have had to re-schedule the second North Wales Cross Country League fixture to Saturday 21st October. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
The revised fixture list is as follows:
Saturday 14th October – Treborth Track, Bangor 
Saturday 21st October – Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay 
Saturday 25th November – Shrewsbury (venue to be confirmed) Saturday 20th January – Dolgellau 
Saturday 10th February – Marches School, Oswestry.
*Starting times: 
Junior races at 10-30am. Women/65+men at 1-00pm; men 2-00pm.


ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The 39th Annual General Meeting of the "David Alun Williams" North Wales Cross Country League, in association with Grand Prix Express took place at Ysgol Clywedog Leisure Centre, Ruthin Road, Wrexham, on Friday 5th May.

Announcements about forthcoming cross-country fixtures have now been confirmed, courtesy, of the well-known and hard working XC League official Bernie Jones (*pictured below). The following dates and venues were agreed at the AGM for the 2023/24 season. 


The North Wales Cross Country Championships will be held at Wrexham on 6th January and the Welsh Inter Regions will be on 18th November at Newtown (subject to confirmation). 

Both Junior and Senior Leagues will consist of all 5 fixtures with the best 4 out of 5 results to count for the overall individual titles.

*Please note that only athletes likely to run in either of the first two fixtures should be registered.

At the AGM it was agreed that any 75+ athlete who didn't feel they could complete the course within the hour allowed would be allowed to start 10 minutes early. The Referees should be notified.

Some 168 athletes competed in the 5-mile race with  Tomos Roberts  (Meirionnydd RC), winning in a chip time of 26.04, with  Jack Webb  (Rotherham), 2nd in 27.24, and  Alex Cowin  (Penny Lane Striders), 3rd in 28.13. Young  Andrew Moore  won his SM20 age cat with an outstanding display in just 17 minutes and 8 seconds, and he was over a minute ahead of his nearest rival  Luke Hilliard  (Elswick Harriers) on his debut in 18.21, with teenager  Aidan Thomas  3rd in 18.30. Record breaking numbers at the Nova Prestatyn parkrun...Plus other parkrun results.

Photos courtesy of Nova parkrun. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com   Nova parkrun officials celebrated another record-breaking event last Saturday as some 327 entrants took advantage of the warm March sunshine over this 5k promenade course. The overall numbers were boosted by another large contingent from ‘Conwy on tour,’ members, in addition to numerous athletes from  St Asaph City Striders  from their Stride to 5, challenge team, and many others from the  Your Way, Your Move Against Cancer , squad. The event also welcomed 80 first timers from 33 different clubs, and they recorded 44 new PB times.
