Repeat performance by one man and his child buggy at Rhos parkrun - plus NW results round-up.

It was very warm and very breezy for hundreds of runners and walkers at all North Wales parkruns last weekend, and the Llandrillo yn Rhos 5k event attracted another bumper attendance, where James Yarwood once again finished first in 17.47, accompanied by his young twins in a child buggy!


The Wrexham AAC runner was chased all the way though by young Joe Culverhouse (NWRRC), a talented soccer player and junior referee, who won his JM15-17 age cat with a determined effort in 18.19, with Gemma Moore (Eryri Harriers) the first female, and in third place overall in 18.30. Abbie Robinson was the second female in 21.30, with Bethan Parry third with a new course PB in 22.23. *There were 468 finishers at Rhos.


*North Wales Road Runners had eight members running with Steve Bozier back to top form again and leading the team home in 14th place in 20.08, and he was second in his VM45 age cat. He was closely followed by Stuart Culverhouse 18th in 20.23, and he won his VM50 age cat. Paul Aubert was 37th on his course debut in 21.30, with James Jones very close in 40th place in 21.35.  


Steve Mason looked good again, and he was 63rd in 23.20; but master vet Don Hale struggled to find his form, but settled for 202nd place in 27.57, and third in his VM70 cat. Meanwhile, Nia Lister was 242nd in 28.48, and Gethin Wyn Jones, ran with his child buggy, and finished in 348th place in 34.14.


*GOG Triathlon had three members involved with John Farrell leading their trio home in 116th place in 25.18, with Connor Thomas 121st in 25.28, and Wendy Trelease 142nd with a new course PB in 26.08. *Porth Eirias Runners (PER) had three entrants, with Pedro Gaspar their first finisher in 107th place in 24.59; Kevin Baines was next in 189th place in 27.40, with Alan Hackett 220th in 28.19. 


*Some other local runners included: Youngster Charlie Sheen (44th) in 21.51; Gareth Southworth (45th) in 21.57; Darren Dentith (53rd) in 22.59; Ian Taylor (55th) in 23.09; and Chris Spillane (59th) in 23.17.

 

*Conwy: Fell runner Josh Keogh (NWRRC) was the first man home at the revised Conwy parkrun course in 17.23, and Dafydd Bryden took the second spot with a new course PB, with Luke Samuel third with another course PB in 19.54. 


*Anna Drinkwater (Eryri Harriers) was the first female finisher in 20.17 (5th overall), and Bronte Lloyd (Clayton le Moors) finished second in 21.51, with Mia Williams third in 22,18. *There were 225 finishers at Conwy.


*North Wales Road Runners entered five members at Conwy including Josh, plus Richard Scamans who was 21st in 23.10, and second in his VM50 age cat. Kay Hatton won her VW60 cat with a good run in 45th place in 25.13, and master vet Rob Fryer returned after injury in 93rd place in 29.01, and he was third in his VM70 cat; whilst super-vet Mike Hayton was 109th in 30.13 and second in his VM75 cat.


*GOG Triathlon had seven members running and Jose Eduardo Vega Perez was the club’s first finisher in 19th place in 22.50; with super-vet Liz Evans second (50th overall) in 25.43, and she won her VW75 age cat; with Simon Blain 59th in 26.49. 


*Some other local running results included: John Stallard 78th in 28.06; Amanda Durber 81st in 28.26; and Mandy Owen 125th in 30.59. *Porth Eirias Runners (PER) had four members with Nicola Evans 129th in 31.18; Charlotte Ward 130th in 31.19; with Mark Evans 184thin 37.00; and Roy Warden 201st in 40.17.

 

*Penrhyn: Seven out of the first ten female finishers, and five out of the same number of top male placings at the Penrhyn Castle parkrun were all visitors, but Sam Gunning managed to hold off quite a few rivals as the first overall finisher with a new PB and a good time in 16.27, with debutant Ryan Allen second in 18.32, and Daniel Clifford third in 19.03.


The first three females were all debutants with Paz Torres (Spa Striders) first in 21.13, followed by Samantha Mullender second in 21.58, and Meredith Norman (NDAC Jets) third in 22.34. 


*NWRRC member Will Wiliams finished 5th overall, and he won his VM50 age cat in 19.38. *There were 217 finishers at Penrhyn.

 

*Prestatyn: Debutant Nicolas Seguin was the first finisher at the Nova parkrun at Prestatyn in 18.40, and Caleb Dore was second with a new course PB in 18.52, with Tom Millington third with another course PB in 19.26. *Lisa Lines (Prestatyn RC) was the first female finisher in 21.04, with Jennifer Cawley second in 22.29, and Elen Baugh (Denbigh Harriers) third in 22.33. 


*The local club Prestatyn RC entered 25 athletes with Jonathon Pullerton-Jones their first man home in 5th place 19.57, with Alex Ryder next (12th) in 20.05, and Lisa Lines (15th) in 21.04. *Aaron Dodwell also ran well in 11th place in 20.04.
