UPDATE ON LLANDRILLO YN RHOS PARKRUN.
Works on the promenade. Good to go ahead!

*Special report by event co-director Richard Peevor. (See below for details:

After a stressful 24 hours for our event team and after Sharon and I, our two event directors have done a course inspection tonight we feel that we can go ahead safely on Saturday.
For a period of approximately eight weeks two areas of the promenade that will have semi permanent kiosks built on them have been cordened off with metal fencing. They are essentially at each end of the Cayley embankment, one near the slipway approximately 400 m from the start and the second approximately 1000m from the start. Both areas are also obviously on the return leg of the parkrun course.
The second area (as you can see in the first picture below), near the Rydal boat park should not cause any problems we are going to have a marshal to guide runners near the cage on the widest part of the path and guide other prom users to use the path nearest the beach.
The cage nearest to the start will cause slightly more problems. It is a 25m long narrowing. We are going to divert runners from the main prom onto the path nearest to the beach with a marshal at each end. We will guide other prom users on footpath around the back of the cage. (You runners can’t be trusted there as you WILL run on the road!)

*Pictured are two photographs explaining the temporary changes at Rhos.

As it is only approximately 400 m from the start there is a risk of it being a bottleneck and mid pack runners may have to pause or slow down to get through. We will mention this in the briefings. Please be aware it’s either this or a two month pause for our parkrun and therefore we are keen to make it work. We may be lucky and people may be able to space out enough that they can keep running through but we will see how it goes on Saturday.
I hope we can make this work to keep our successful start to this fantastic parkrun going. Please do bear with us we are doing our best to put on this free event for you! Please be nice to your volunteer team!

I will post about this in the community groups to inform the local community of our plans and hopefully we can work with the local area to allow us all to enjoy our prom on a Saturday morning.
Richard Peevor, co-Event Director
