I am a ‘bon viveur’ and enjoy life. I have been fortunate during my diverse career to have been able to pursue my hobbies including motor racing, sailing, flying, travel, fine dining and the Arts, whilst still maintaining a very strong work ethic.
My career began as a Scots Guards Officer, during which period, I gained my ‘wings’ as an Army helicopter pilot flying for the Brigade and for the United Nations for five years of my Service. I also hold civilian qualifications as a Fixed wing, Seaplane and Commercial Helicopter Pilot.
I hold various Marine licences. A class 1 HGV licence which I used driving relief convoys to refugees in Iraq and have held an RAC motor racing licence - Quite exciting really! I studied Law and Economics at Edinburgh University and am an Accredited Mediator.
On leaving the Army, I was again very fortunate in becoming Deputy Chief Executive of a major International PLC in the field of Civil Engineering and was privileged to have houses in London and Geneva use of the company executive aircraft and a salary commensurate with continuing my somewhat expensive hobbies. My career diversified into the fields of property, hospitality and Defence Security in Europe, South America, and Africa.
I now live in the North of Scotland which is my ancestral home, spending five or six months of the year in Casares. Andalucia. It was here I turned my hand to writing using the knowledge and experience accumulated over the years.
I support several Charities; The Scots Guards Charity, The Veterans Association and the RNLI being the major ones, and I have been CEO of two charities providing emergency relief aid, and support for Service Personnel suffering from PTSD. Particularly satisfying roles.
My writings are gleaned from personal experience and from trials of the heart. I am passionate about many topics which hopefully you may recognise in my books.

Hot Ice (The Douglas Trilogy) Paperback: By
A brilliant diamond heist, arms smuggling, deception, hurt and betrayal. A brutal execution. Jack Douglas is back in Angola, a country to which he wished never to return after his years in Luanda in the early 90s as Managing Director of a Defence Security Company. He was here at the joint behest of the Angolan Government, the UK Government and CSO De Beers to review the security of the diamond mining operations.
Stolen stones were being used to buy more weapons for the bands of marauding groups left from Savimbi’s UNITA forces, a constant threat to the Angolan Government. Douglas, a former Scots Guards officer, is also tasked to report back to an autonomous Intelligence and Special Operations Department in the British Government.
There follows a twisted tale of diamond security operations, theft, deceit, betrayal, obfuscation, and Embassy interference. A sub plot runs with Douglas uncovering an arms smuggling deal, master minded by two senior ex IRA members, who execute his friend Sylvette as a warning to him to steer clear.
The tale unfolds with a brilliantly planned diamond heist of uncut stones, the subsequent get away and the fencing of the stones in Holland.
*NOTE: Jack Duncan is a former Scots Guards officer and helicopter pilot who has also been CEO of many diverse commercial enterprises and NGO charities. He spent several years in West Africa as MD of a Defence Security Company – mostly in Angola towards the end of the Civil War. His books are gleaned from his own experiences, which have been presented as fiction.

Cold Chase: (The Douglas Trilogy) Paperback: By
Cold Chase is the second novel in the "Douglas trilogy." Jack Douglas, ex-soldier and adventurer was back in Africa, this time in Botswana.
Once again, he was on the trail of ex IRA enforcer and assassin, Sean Gallagher. Gallagher had mercilessly executed a dear friend, Sylvette Dubois, (“Hot Ice”) in Luanda, Angola several years before and he and his friend and associate Papa Rock had vowed to track him down to ensure he received his just deserts.
Reported to be in Botswana, and confirmed, Douglas has put together a new team, some old associates and some new and with the help of General Bruce Kendall, his friend of many years who heads up a clandestine Government security unit in London, is back on the chase which has been ‘cold’ for many years.
Douglas uses all his old contacts in Angola including Alfonso Carisco who is now Commissioner and Chief of Police, his friends in CSO De Beers, Government contacts and his substantial wealth to equip a strong chase team, including ex Welsh Guards Officer, Peter Corbett who owns his own helicopter business in Botswana.
He is also ably assisted by Colonel Stuart Mitchell who commands the elite Botswana Army anti- poaching unit.
One would think with this amount of assistance, intelligence gathering, and firepower available it would be relatively easy to find Gallagher and bring him to justice.
Not so, in the Kalahari desert and the Okavango Delta where Gallagher persistently eludes his pursuers with the “luck of the Devil.” Until……………… Read on!

Final Tap (The Douglas Trilogy) Paperback by Jack Duncan: The third novel in the “Douglas trilogy”
Colonel Jack Douglas was still recovering from his grievous wounds, received In Botswana (Cold Chase) , at his Finca in Andalucia near Casares.
He had been living quietly but together with his friend General Bruce Kendall who ran a most secret, clandestine Military Department in London, keeping his ear to the ground for the resurgence of his sworn enemy who had eluded him in Africa.
This man, Sean Gallagher was a brutal former IRA enforcer and assassin who had gone to ground two years earlier. He was not pardoned by the Good Friday agreement and was still on the UK Government ‘Kill List’ which of course does not exist.
Kendall provided Intell that Gallagher had surfaced and gone proactive. He was reliably informed that he was now searching for Douglas with a ‘kill’ team and was heading for Spain. The Hunter had become the Hunted.
A thwarted attempt was made to attack his house in Spain, thereafter Douglas decided to decamp to his more defendable ancestral home in the West of Scotland with support from his close friend, John Rockwell (Papa Rock) who had also sworn an oath to see Gallagher dead (Hot Ice) Gallagher and his crew arrive in secrecy ferried over by an Irish trawler. A classic ambush attempt ensues with Douglas ably assisted by General Kendall’s department and the Royal Navy. The outcome could go either way . . . . . .
