For the first time in a couple of years, the Master international events came back to Wales, and we were rewarded with a record number of top three finishers and a new Welsh Record by the ageless Swansea Harrier, Alan Davies, who broke his own M70 record with a great run of 81-51.

Phil Matthews, Parc Bryn Bach (M45), was first home in 5th place overall comfortably winning his age category. Along with Phil and Alan Davies. Welsh Athletes were first home in the M50 age group (Mark Jennings, MMRT) and M65 (David Warren, Cardigan).

There were also second places for Matt Rees, Swansea Harriers(M35), Dave James, Les Croupiers(M65) and David Gibson, Tri-Hard Harriers (M70).

In the Women’s races, whilst there weren’t any winners, we had three second places - Donna Morris, Builth & District (W40); Niki Morgan, Chepstow Harriers (W55); and Elaine Wharmby, Brackla Harriers(W60). There were also 3rd places for Tracey Breedon, Aberystwyth (W45); Tracy Jenkins, Porthcawl (W55); Lindy Geyer, TROT (W60); Brenda Avery, Chepstow Harriers (W70); and Sue Graves, Hook Runners (W75).

It was also a special day in the Gibson family as dad David Gibson, was running alongside his daughter Stephanie Gibson, as she was making her Welsh debut, and both run for Tri-Hard Harriers.
