The 2024/25 Cross Country Season is just around the corner. Clubs are asked to register athletes wishing to compete in the League using the forms on the North Wales Cross Country website:

Clubs are also reminded that league fees (£100 per club for seniors and £50 for juniors) are payable by at the latest before the start of the second fixture.

Please note due to the unavailability of the PGL Centre, Baschurch in October, we have changed around the dates for the Wrexham and Shrewsbury fixtures.

 

The revised fixtures/venues for the 2024/25 Season are:

Sat 5th October 24 - Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay.

Sat 19th October 24 - Ysgol Morgan Llwyd, Wrexham.

Sat 30th November 24 - Aberysywyth.

Sat 11th January 25 - PGL Centre, Baschurch, Shrewsbury.

Sat 8th February 25 - Marches School, Oswestry 

 

*The North Wales Cross Country Championships are on Saturday 4th January 2025 at Treborth Track, Bangor.

Competing on the track in Bjorlanda, Sweden, on 15th August, for Team GB, the M60 veteran ran home in 2 minutes 22.26 seconds. He was also the 3rd British athlete and the 1st Welshman, finishing 23rd overall based on the times over seven heats. There were 72 starters.  And in the 1500m held over the past few days, he recorded another excellent PB finishing in 5.07.05, in 24th place overall, as the 4th British athlete, and once again he was understood to be the 1st Welshman. And it quite bizarrely, it was almost three years to the day since he  smashed the previous parkrun PB record at the same venue on 21st August 2021 of 15.16.   And Bryn, who is on a brief summer break from his studies in America, finished more than two minute

Four Road Runners wore the red vest of Wales in the Mid Cheshire 5k International race...plus other results. Dozens of runners pay tribute to John Dalzell at a special 5k social event on Llandudno promenade. Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com   Dozens of runners and supporters from the North Wales Road Running Club, Dalzell Runners, and from numerous other local running groups, and individuals, took part in a non-competitive 5k run last Saturday night in memory of their colleague and friend John Dalzell, who tragically lost his life twelve-months ago. Event organisers Jonathan Kettle , and Tony Price-Jones , aided by several others, staged a pleasant social run in his honour, with most runners wearing a special yellow t-shirt and shared their own personal memories of this popular athlete, before later raising a glass to John at the Llandudno Bay Hotel. *Pictured above and below - runners, friends, and  supporters  commemo

West Wales 10k Championships results and run within the St Clears race. Report courtesy of David Gibson (Tri-Hard Harriers)   https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Over one-hundred athletes competed in the West Wales 10k Road Running Championships on Sunday 18th August, which was incorporated this year for the first time into the St Clears 10K road race, and kindly organised by TROTS.   The course included a picturesque route through the town of St Clears and then out and around the local scenic countryside, before finishing outside the Leisure Centre.   Congratulations to everyone who took part and to our age group medallists. It was great to see so many of our regional clubs represented in Carmarthenshire. Some interesting results from Welsh Masters athletes at the Inter-Area T&F championships at Corby.

Some interesting results for Welsh Masters athletes at the Inter-Area T&F championships at Corby.... Brett Davis reports on the success of WMAL athletes.   Three athletes from Bexley AC represented Welsh Masters Athletics at the Inter-Area track and field championships at Corby last weekend in the throwing events. This included M50  Graham Holder,  shot, discus, and hammer, M60  Andy Rushbrook , shot and high jump, and M70  Peter Hawley  shot. The men came 6th out of 9 teams with wins from  Graham Holder  for the hammer,  Glyn Price  for the pole vault and the M60, 4 x 100m relay team ( Rod Davies ,  Brett Davis ,  Ian Broadhurst , and  Paul Williams ). The women came an amazing 2nd out of 9 teams with wins from  Kath Morgan  W35 high jump,  Mel Garland  W60 high jump, 100m and long jump,  Michelle Thomas  W50 100m and 200m,  Ewelina Ciesielska  W35 3000m and

Four age category wins for the Road Runners at Conwy parkrun - plus other results.

Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   North Wales Road Runners entered thirteen members at the Conwy parkrun last Saturday and claimed four age category wins and former NWRRC athlete Josh Keogh was the first finisher overall with an excellent finishing time of 18 minutes and 37 seconds. Starting from the RSPB Nature Reserve, this popular 5k event attracted numerous runners from various parts of the UK, in addition to welcoming back some of their own club runners following some long periods of absence. And also, it should be noted, that due to some other competing fixtures on another busy weekend, many runners took it steady in the rather heavy and humid weather. Welsh Masters Athletics launches new style kit and appeal for runners for the Inter-Area challenge. Report by Rod Davies, the  Membership Secretary, Welsh Masters Athletics Limited. The Inter-area is at Corby on Saturday 7th September, with the timetable and rules attached, and there is also a new style of kit coming!   The women’s team has already had a selection process but there are gaps so any members who are interested, please contact Eleri on   eleri9uk@yahoo.com  or Louise on   louisekirby901@gmail.com   Selection for the men’s team is starting now with any interested members to contact Brett on   brett.davis1@sky.com  with their name, age group, event(s) of interest and any form they feel is relevant.
