Two Road Runners took to the hills, or rather to the mountain last Friday night, to take part in the gruelling Scott Sports Snowdon Twilight fell race.

This was an extremely tough, challenging, but well-organised uphill race that started from the road opposite the Royal Victoria Hotel, and followed the Llanberis Path to the Summit of Snowdon.

Charlotte Rose Wilton Jones and Phil Moss competed well with Charlotte in 50th place overall out of 68 eventual finishers, and she was the 17th female athlete and 6th in her FOpen age category with a good time of 1hr 12 mins and 43 secs. Phil gave chase to Charlotte all the way and he was 52nd overall, and 4th in his VM60 age cat in 1hr 13mins 9 secs.

*The race winner was George Foster (Matlock AC) in a remarkable time of just 43 mins and 41 secs, with Lee Gratton (Scott Runners), 2nd in 45.56, and Rhys Jones (Rhedwyr Hebog Runners), 3rd in 46.32. The 1st female finisher was Sarah McCormack (Ambleside AC) in 49.19.

After the event, Charlotte said: “It was a race up to the summit of Snowdon and it was good practice ready for Ras Yr Wyddfra next month, which is a race both up and down Snowdon.”

Report by Don Hale. donhaleblog.blogspot.com/2026 coastandcountry.blog   North Wales endurance athletes Ben and Sarah Hudson were back in action again last weekend at the Run Cheshire Huxley 5-miler - and a bit race – as part of a warm up for their forthcoming marathon training. Ben finished in 131st place in 36.07, whilst Sarah was 165th in 40.15.  After their run Sarah confirmed:  “A fab morning at the Huxley 5-miler, with a few extra miles thrown in for good measure. Departing from the Highland railway station in town, 278 runners, then travelled by train to the next station along the line at Dinas, before returning on foot to take on the challenge of trying to beat the train back to its start, along a mainly downhill and very fast course.
