Just over two-hundred entrants took part in a rather drizzly Conwy parkrun last Saturday morning at the RSPB Nature Reserve, which again attracted a good number of tourists and visiting club and social runners from around the UK.

North Wales Road Runners only had seven members in action this week due to holidays and other commitments, but they still recorded three age victories and two second place results.

Mark Jessett was in good form and narrowly finished in 2nd place overall, but he certainly gave the runaway leader Nathan Williams, a strong challenge from the turn-around point, and in the end, he was just 10-seconds adrift. Mark however, won his VM35 age cat in 18.22, with colleague Steve Mason running well in 4th place, and he was 2nd in his VM45 cat in 19.52.

Steve Roberts finished well in 24th place overall in 22.36, and super-vet Sandy Johnson was back to his best with another fine performance in 23.39, finishing 33rd overall, and he won his VM75 age cat.

Master vet Don Hale enjoyed an injury free outing in 65th place, and he too won his VM70 cat in 26.20. Fellow master Rob Fryer finished 2nd in the same age cat as Don in 97th place overall, in 28.23, and veteran John O’Shea was 127th in 29.31, and 4th in his VM65 cat.

*The 1st finisher overall was Nathan Williams (Vale Royal AC) with a new PB of 18.12, with Mark Jessett (NWRRC), 2nd in 18.22, and Robert Norman (Telford AC), 3rd on his course debut in 19.13. The 1st female was debutant Alexandra Galloway, 34th overall, in 23.44, and she won her VW45 cat, with Lizzie Irvine (GOG Triathlon), 2nd in 24,31, and 1st in her VW35 cat, in 42nd place overall, whilst Katrina Wightman (Huncote Harriers), was the 3rd female, 45th overall in 24.46, and won her VW40 age cat.
*Praise was given to the run director Bethan Wyn Roberts, and to all the hard-working volunteers and marshalls, particularly on such a very wet morning. This is a link to the provisional results from Conwy: https://www.parkrun.org.uk/conwy/results/latestresults/

Other parkrun results:

*Llangefni: A quartet of talented Road Runners travelled to Llangefni on Anglesey to take part in the Nant y Pandy parkrun last Saturday, and they collected three age cat wins, plus a great new PB for Carla Green

And it was good to see that Carla was also the 1st female finisher, finishing 6th overall, and she won her VW50 age cat, whilst recording an excellent time of 21.28.

Cheryl Frost was also in fine form in 15th place, and the 3rd female finisher, and she won her VW55 cat on her course debut in 24.35. Fellow debutant Kay Hatton was 21st overall, the 6th female finisher, and she ensured that NWRRC completed a hat-trick of deserved age cat wins, after winning her VW60 cat in 25.30. Elizabeth Driscoll also had another positive run and finished well in 62nd place in 33.45, and in 5th place in her VW55 age cat. After the parkrun Cheryl Frost confirmed: “We all became tourists in Llangefni at the Nant y Pandy parkrun. Somewhat undulating to say the least but very pretty.”

Stuart finished in 3rd place overall in just 19 mins and 56 secs and he was the 1st VM50 athlete, with Joe also winning his JM11-14 age cat in 21.47.
