Fourteen Road Runners competed in the hot and humid Essar Chester half-marathon race on Sunday to commemorate its 40th anniversary, with Martin Green the first NWRRC runner home following an excellent run in this popular event, which recorded nearly 4,000 finishers.
Martin finished 26th overall, and he was 4th in his MV45 age cat in 1 hour 15 minutes and 2 seconds. Jonathan Kettle also ran very well in 58th place in 1.19.08, with Iwan Evans 157th in 1.27.21, and Steve Bozier finished in 211th place in 1.28.58.

Cheryl Frost however, had a more problematic run after tripping close to the finish but still managed to record a good result finishing as the 113th female runner, and 634th overall in 1.43.43, with Kay Hatton 675th overall and the 121st female in 1.44.50.
Kelly-Marie Alford and Cai Roberts (*pictured above) ran together and finished in 1.57.26 in 1,368/9th places, with Kevin Higgins in-form once more to record 2.01.39 in 1,635th place, whilst Jon Evans successfully ran the two-hour bus on time again in 1.59.37. Rachel Morris was also pleased with her outing in 2.33.00, and Mandy Owen braved the hot conditions to celebrate finishing in 2.20.39.
*The race was won by Omar Ahmed (Birchfield Harriers) in 1.03.52, with 2nd Tom Merson (Exmouth Harriers) 1.07.45, and 3rd Peter Avent 1.08.22.
