North Wales Road Runners collected six age category awards on a very warm morning last Saturday during the well-attended 300th parkrun celebrations at Conwy.

And it later added extra icing to the many cakes offered to participants after the event, to confirm that promising NWRRC athlete Josh Keogh was the runaway winner of the event in just 17 minutes and 25 seconds, and he also won his SM30-34 age category ahead of Chris Yorke 2nd in 18.07, and GOG Triathlete Alun Brown, despite his PB in 3rd place in 18.18.

It was a depleted club turnout however this week of just ten members, including two juniors, due to numerous fixture clashes, and several other members taking it steady in readiness for half marathons or other races the following day.

*Martin Green (*above) took it steady last Saturday in readiness for Chester.

Martin Green though finished 8th overall, and won his MV45 cat in 19.48, with Gethin Wyn Jones 17th and 1st in his MV35 cat in 21.09. Meanwhile, Jamie Tharme continued his recovery from recent challenges to come home in 28th place in 22.07, and junior Joe Culverhouse ran well again with his father Stuart, with the youngster again winning his JM11 cat in 45th place in 23.27.

Carla Green jogged around the bone-dry 5k course to finish in 62nd place in 24.47 and was 2nd in her VW50 cat, whilst Karen Butler won her VW60 cat, finishing 70th overall with a new PB in 25.36, and young Ben Spofforth ran with his father Dave and won his JM10 cat in 126th place in 30.22.

*Plaudits were later given to master veteran Sandy Johnston (Les Croupiers) who won his MV70 age cat with an amazing new PB of 21.50, with his daughter Alice claiming the 1st female finisher in 6th place overall, and another PB in just 19.44!

*Hafan Pwllheli: Steve Mason was the overall winner of the Hafan parkrun at Pwllheli last Saturday, and he won his MV45 age cat in 19.31.
