Podium place for Steve Bozier at Snowdonia Trail race and a full weekend round-up..
Podium place for Steve Bozier at Snowdonia Epic Trail 10k race - and a great team effort.
Report by Don Hale.
Five club runners took part in the highly challenging Snowdonia Epic Trail 10k race last Sunday in the rain where Steve Bozier enjoyed an exceptional run to claim a podium position as the 3rd placed finisher.
Steve ran an amazing 48 minutes 53 seconds, and he was also 2nd in his respective age category. The race also recorded some other notable team performances from Dave Spofforth, Liz Driscoll, Hannah Griffiths, and Samantha Williams, with a couple of the members only recruited at the last minute.
*Some good running from the ladies at the Snowdonia Trail race (pictured l-r), Hannah Griffith, Sam Williams and Liz Driscoll.
*Another excellent result for Dave Spofforth (*pictured above).
Dave finished in 58.04, and Liz ran very well and won her age cat in 64.16, with Hannah finishing in 67.29 and Sam 74.17 in her first ever trail race.
Hannah said: ‘Great fun doing the Snowdonia Trail 10k with Liz and Sam despite the hills and rain! Plus, a lovely surprise when my brother turned up to run too!’
Liz later confirmed: ‘Three days ago Hannah asked Sam and I, to run in the Snowdonia Epic Trail 10k (which was actually 10.4K), as her sisters had had to withdraw. So off we went to Betws-y-Coed, and then set-off up the most brutal hill in the drizzly rain. A great race though and some good results, and a special mention must go to Steve Bozier.’
Great North runners
Three NWRRC members travelled to Newcastle last Sunday to compete in the 40th anniversary of the Great North Run, the UK’s largest half-marathon event, which this year attracted about 57,000 entrants, and included a revised course due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Jon Evans enjoyed a very good run and finished in 1 hour 50 mins and 30 secs in (5,698 position), and Kelly-Marie Alford and her partner Cai Roberts ran in very hot Teletubbies costumes, with Kelly finishing in 2.20.35 (18,414 position) and Cai ran home in 2.20.37 (18,421 place).
Jon Evans later said: ‘I was really chuffed with my time, and it’s still a fantastic event.’
*Kelly-Marie Alford and her partner Cai Roberts ran as the Teletubbies.
And Kelly-Marie added: ‘It was so hot in those costumes, and it was definitely hillier that's for sure, but we were fundraising for the Clic Sargent Cancer appeal.’
