Don retains 60m title with new PB at North Wales Indoor championships.

NWRRC Master veteran runner Don Hale claimed a great new PB time of 11.15 seconds and retained his Regional Championships age cat title with a gold medal performance in the Masters 60m dash held at the North Wales Indoor Athletics Centre at Coleg Cambria, Deeside, last Sunday afternoon.

Don, now 69, previously won the M65-69 age cat race in 2020, and said he was pleased to retain his sprint title after two years of pandemic restrictions, and this victory moved his age ranking from Welsh No 2, to No 1, at least for a few weeks.

LAST CALL: The first North Wales Cross Country League fixture starts at Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay, tomorrow (Saturday 5th October), with junior races starting at 10-30am (Under 15 Boys) and the Senior races starting as usual at 1pm. Martin, ( *pictured right ), who now has dual club registration with Meirionnydd RC, finished well as the 75th male athlete overall in 1 hr 13 mins and 4 seconds and won his VM50 age category.  After the event he confirmed:  “I went flat out for a championship time, and I was on track till around 6/7 miles then dropped off the pace unfortunately, but no complaints, enjoyed the block, took the race on but unfortunately not quite good enough on the day.” Will Evans  was also p

Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   There were just a handful of Road Runners at the Conwy parkrun last Saturday morning due to a clash of other fixtures as 240 brave social and club athletes welcomed bright and sunny weather as they tackled the waterlogged 5k riverside course from the RSPB Nature Reserve. And the highlight of the day was to note that NWRRC athlete Mark Davies  (*pictured right),  continues  to build  back his fitness following a devastating accident, with a great new course PB of 34.50, knocking well over a minute from his previous  best.
