The warmer weather and the Bank Holiday weekend attracted another bumper attendance of over five-hundred runners and walkers to the Llandrillo yn Rhos parkrun last Saturday morning.
The event also recorded plenty of personal best times, and visitors from across the UK, who enjoyed this exciting flat, and picturesque promenade route, with the first three finishing places all going to first-timers.
Jonathan Shaw (Steel City Striders) was the first finisher overall and he was delighted with an excellent debut time of 16 minutes and 9 seconds. He was followed by George Lowe (London Front Runners) in 16.36, and Matthew Cox third in 17.09. The first six finishers all dipped under 18 minutes and included five new course PBs.

*The first female finisher was highly promising JW11-14 athlete Lois Evans (15th overall) with a new course PB in 19.04, whilst Natasha Jones was 35th with a new course PB in 20.34, and Ellie Evans (Cybi Striders) was third with another course PB of 21.35, and she won her VW 40 age cat.
*There were some other good results in the top ten with Martin Green (Meirionnydd RC) 5th in 18.16, and he won his VM50 age cat, with youngster Joe Culverhouse (NWRRC) 7th, but he was narrowly beaten by Eben Jones in his JM15-17 age cat, with Eben on fire. and recording a new course PB in 17.52.
*There were some other good results in the top ten with Martin Green (Meirionnydd RC) 5th in 18.16, and he won his VM50 age cat, with youngster Joe Culverhouse (NWRRC) 7th, but he was narrowly beaten by Eben Jones in his JM15-17 age cat, with Eben on fire. and recording a new course PB in 17.52.

*NWRRC entered twelve members at Rhos and with Joe Culverhouse again leading the team home; the next man was Robert Evans – the father of the first female finisher Lois Evans – in 16th place in 19.04, and second in his VM40 age cat.
Meanwhile, Stuart Culverhouse, Joe’s father, was 25th in 19.51 and second in his VM50 cat, with Daniel Hennell 50th on his course debut in 21.22. And Richard Scamans was back at Rhos with an impressive time of 21.33, whilst Carla Green was 68th, and she won her VW50 age cat in 22.25.
Nia Lister was 199th in 26.39, and master vet Don Hale finished in 201st place in 26.42, and he won his VM70 age cat. Gwen Charlton returned to action again with a good run in 215th place in 27.01, and Elizabeth Driscoll ran dog-less this week due to the expected high temperatures and recorded a new course PB of 27.22. Ceri Jones was 335th, with a new course PB of 30.31, and Hannah Griffith and her dog Fred, braved the conditions, and she was 387th in 33.06.
*Sports coach and charity fundraiser John Hatton received a special cake to help commemorate his 400th stint as a popular parkrun volunteer at numerous venues over more than a decade. His prize was presented by NWRRC colleague Elizabeth Driscoll.
*GOG Triathlon had fourteen members involved with Aled Hughes (4th) in 17.16; Andy Jones (43rd) and Steve Owen (78th). *Porth Eirias Runners had three runners including – Barry Palmer (91st) in 23.21; Jaspar McQueen (121st) in 24.13; and Charlotte Ward (243rd) in 27.49.
*Other notable local runners at Rhos included: (28) Gareth Southworth with a new course PB in 20.03; Marcus Jones (69th) in 22.34; Darren Dentith (71st) in 22.37; Andrew Roberts (102nd) in 23.34, and Peter Johnson (167th) in 25.30.
*Conwy: John Gardner was the first finisher at the Conwy parkrun with a new course PB of 17.58, and Nic Brook (Eryri Harriers) was second in 18.27, whilst his partner and team-mate Gemma Moore was third overall, and she was also the first female finisher with a new course PB 18.41. *The second female (24th overall) was visitor Victoria Goodill in 21.58, with Vicki Cleall (Dragons RC) third with a new course PB in 22.01. *There were 251 finishers at Conwy. *Pictured below - Nic Brook and his partner and club colleague Gemma Moore.
*NWRRC only had two entrants at Conwy with Helen Hannam 104th in 27.18, and it was good to note that Vicky Taylor returned to action in 149th place in 29.37. Some other local runners included Tony Parvin 66th in 25.18, and Amanda Durber112th in 27.57.
*There were four members of GOG Triathlon in action at Conwy with super-vet Liz Evans 73rd and she won her VW75 age cat in 25.37, with Wendy Trelease 99th and 3rd in her VW50 cat in 27.00; and it was good to see Llinos Davies 208th back at parkrun, and she was third in her VW65 cat in 34.09, whilst Liz McIndoe was 216th in 34.46.
*Colwyn Bay athletes Josh Mottram, and Ian Taylor were all on good form at Conwy, with Josh winning his SM18 age cat in 17th place in 21.05, and Ian was 27th in 22.07, and second in his VM55 cat
*Prestatyn: There was a very turn-out of 332 athletes at the Nova parkrun last Saturday where talented local soccer player Aaron Dodwell was the first finisher with a superb new course PB of 17.17, with visitor Oliver Bernstein pushing Aaron all the way in second place in 17.34, and Evan Lewis third with a new course PB in 18.55.
*The first female was visitor Morina Rossiter in 21.29, and Katherine Burton (Chester Tri Club) was second with a new course PB in 21.56, and Jo Coombe finished third with a similar PB in 23.03. *Prestatyn RC entered sixteen runners with their first members Lewis Pierce (18th) in 21.31, and Alex Ryder (19th) sharing the same finishing times; whilst Edward Shirt was their third man in 21.47.
And it was good to note some great results from several club vets including Martin Corvriend (47th) in 24.05 and first in his VM70 age cat; with Michael Davis (226th), and second in his VM75 cat; whilst the legendary Roger Harrison Jones finished in (269th) in 38.01 and he won his VM85-89 age cat. *There were 332 finishers at Nova.
*Penrhyn: At the time of writing the name of the first finisher at the Penrhyn Castle parkrun remained unknow but in second place was visitor Adrien Gallet (City of York Orienteers) in 17.53, with Aidan Thomas taking the third spot in 18.31.
*The first female finisher (16th overall) was Hayley Fairclough (Penny Lane Striders) with a new course PB of 21.15, with two promising JW11-14 athletes in hot pursuit including Fiona Horne in 21.28, and Elin Jones with a new course PB in 22.28. *There were 251 finishers at Penrhyn.
