The latest updates have Now been revealed for both the male and female T&F teams to represent Welsh Masters Athletics at the forthcoming Masters Inter-Area (Indoor) challenge championships at Lee Valley on Sunday 25th February.

WMAL director Brett Davis confirmed: “This is the current list for the Welsh Masters Athletics men’s team for the Inter-Area male team as they currently stand. Any gaps shown are still available for people to approach myself, Eleri Jones, or Louise Kirby about. 

“In addition, the M35-49 age group 400m slot may become available due to an injury that is being assessed.”

Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com North Wales Road Runner, Welsh Master, and Team GB track athlete Steve Gardner smashed his own previous best record time in the 800m event during the World Masters Athletics Championships in Sweden last week with an improved time to set a new Welsh Masters Athletics record. Competing on the track in Bjorlanda, Sweden, on 15th August, for Team GB, the M60 veteran ran home in 2 minutes 22.26 seconds. He was also the 3rd British athlete and the 1st Welshman, finishing 23rd overall based on the times over seven heats. There were 72 starters.  And in the 1500m held over the past few days, he recorded another excellent PB finishing in 5.07.05, in 24th place overall, as the 4th British athlete, and once again he was understood to be the 1st Welshman. Dozens of runners pay tribute to John Dalzell at a special 5k social event on Llandudno promenade. Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com   Dozens of runners and supporters from the North Wales Road Running Club, Dalzell Runners, and from numerous other local running groups, and individuals, took part in a non-competitive 5k run last Saturday night in memory of their colleague and friend John Dalzell, who tragically lost his life twelve-months ago. Report courtesy of David Gibson (Tri-Hard Harriers)   https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Over one-hundred athletes competed in the West Wales 10k Road Running Championships on Sunday 18th August, which was incorporated this year for the first time into the St Clears 10K road race, and kindly organised by TROTS.   The course included a picturesque route through the town of St Clears and then out and around the local scenic countryside, before finishing outside the Leisure Centre.   Congratulations to everyone who took part and to our age group medallists. It was great to see so many of our regional clubs represented in Carmarthenshire. Welsh Masters Athletics launches new style kit and appeal for runners for the Inter-Area challenge. Report by Rod Davies, the  Membership Secretary, Welsh Masters Athletics Limited. The Inter-area is at Corby on Saturday 7th September, with the timetable and rules attached, and there is also a new style of kit coming!   The women’s team has already had a selection process but there are gaps so any members who are interested, please contact Eleri on   eleri9uk@yahoo.com  or Louise on   louisekirby901@gmail.com   Selection for the men’s team is starting now with any interested members to contact Brett on   brett.davis1@sky.com  with their name, age group, event(s) of interest and any form they feel is relevant. Four age category wins for the Road Runners at Conwy parkrun - plus other results.

Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   North Wales Road Runners entered thirteen members at the Conwy parkrun last Saturday and claimed four age category wins and former NWRRC athlete Josh Keogh was the first finisher overall with an excellent finishing time of 18 minutes and 37 seconds. Starting from the RSPB Nature Reserve, this popular 5k event attracted numerous runners from various parts of the UK, in addition to welcoming back some of their own club runners following some long periods of absence. And also, it should be noted, that due to some other competing fixtures on another busy weekend, many runners took it steady in the rather heavy and humid weather. In warm but very breezy conditions,  Jonathan Kettle  led the team home in 22nd place overall but said his legs felt heavy and it just wasn’t his day.  Jonathan and Carla   Green  also had a dual role, as they were both additionally representing the  North Wales Regional  team.
