Arthur Bebbington Twin Piers 10k

Saturday 13th January 2024

Arthur Bebbington Twin Piers 10k Saturday 13th January 2024.

The Twin Piers race organiser Russell Godwin has now confirmed details of this popular event that has been revised again after facing some unforeseen problems in recent times with delayed work on both Colwyn Bay and Rhos on Sea promenades.

He has just sent out the race details to registered entrants this week containing all the relevant information. And this week, Russell said: We have been assured works will be complete which is why have had to leave it so late to advise everyone. Thanks for your kind words and we appreciate your assistance to promote the race. Good luck on the day and happy training.”

Regards, Russell Godwin, Colwyn Bay Athletic Club.

Thank you for entering the 2024 Arthur Bebbington Twin Piers 10k road race.

The race has been renamed following the sad passing away of Arthur Bebbington on 16th February 2021, aged 80 years. Our club was founded in the in the early 1970’s with Arthur being one of the main protagonists who led our club from strength to strength in the 80’s & 90’s.

Under Arthur’s leadership the Club had many athletes that represented North Wales and Wales and won many Welsh League and Cheshire League titles and even got a team to the semi- finals of the British League.

Arthur’s life was dominated with athletics from track disciplines to cross country and road running where he was involved for many years in the organisation of the club’s own race Twin Piers 10k which started in 1979 and has continued to be successful to date. Arthur’s retirement in 2002 was to leave a legacy of one of the most established, respected and hugely successful clubs within Welsh Athletics.
