*Birchwood: Three NWRRC members took part in the Birchwood 10k race on Sunday. Kelly-Marie Alford and Cai Roberts ran together again with Kelly finishing in 156th place in 50.46 and the 7th F35 athlete, with Cai sharing the same time and just one place behind. Mandy Owen also continued her return to fitness with another determined run in 56.13 and 220th place.

*America: Jon Evans continued his American adventure last weekend and returned to the Theodore Roosevelt Island DC parkrun in America where he celebrated a great new course PB of 22.55 to win his MV55 age cat, marking a 27-second improvement to his time from last week and finishing in 7th place overall.

*Hemel Hempstead: Stuart Culverhouse completed a tough course at the Gadebridge parkrun, near Hemel Hempstead and finished 6th overall and 1st in his MV50 age cat with a good time of 20.49.

*Penrhyn: Will Williams ran at the Penrhyn Castle parkrun and won his MV45 cat, finishing 5th overall in a great time of 19.06.



*Will Williams (*above) had a good run at the Penrhryn parkrun.

*Nicola Wylie (*above) was in form again on her travels to Ellesmere Port.


*Ellesmere Port: Nicola Wylie enjoyed her trip out to the Ellesmere Port parkrun last Saturday to record her fastest parkrun time so far. Nicola finished in 26th place overall but was the 3rd female runner and won her VW50 age cat in 24.01.



*Jamie Tharme (*above) finished 3rd in his age cat at Ruthin.

*Ruthin: NWRRC duo Gethin Wyn Jones and Jamie Tharme travelled to a very windy event at the Ruthin Memorial Playing Fields parkrun last Saturday, with Gethin claiming 7th place and 2nd in his MV35 age cat in 20.11, and Jamie finishing 14th overall and 3rd in his MV40 cat in 22.06.

It was a proud moment this weekend for athletics coach, MC and promoter, John Hatton as he saw his new running protegee  Sharon Buckley – a well-known former North Wales midwife - cross the finish line at the challenging Conwy half-marathon with a remarkable time. John, who is heavily involved with North Wales Road Runners , Conwy parkrun , and is also a keen supporter and promoter of a host of charity events, confirmed: “Over the last 6 months I have been training Sharon, who is 60, to run her first half-marathon which she did today in 2.34.17, which is a fantastic achievement. “Sharon was a highly respected midwife in North Wales, and at one time she received an award as the top midwife in the Betsi Cadwalader Health Board for her dedicated service to the community.” *John Hatton was on hand last Sunday morning

Six podium places for the Road Runners in the tough Conwy half-marathon.

Photos by John Hatton and Lesley Goodson. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com   There was a great turn-out of some thirty-one North Wales Road Runners amongst a massive entry of nearly 3,000 mixed ability athletes, who took on the mighty challenge of the Conwy half-marathon last Sunday. Described as one of the toughest half-marathons in the country, and following a picturesque but extremely tough course from Conwy Castle to Llandudno and around the Great Orme, some six members claimed podium places, including one age cat victory, two second places, and three third places, in addition to claiming numerous PBs. Martin Green  who has dual registration for both NWRRC and  Meirionnydd RC , had a fine run after finishing 9th overall with a chip time of just 1 hour 17 minutes and 3 seconds, and he was 2nd in his M50 age cat.  Jo

URGENT APPEAL TO HELP SAVE MENAI TRACK AND FIELD CLUB FROM FOLDING... Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Georgina Seguin from the Menai Track and Field club, and an active member of the NW Cross Country League, is urgently appealing for support from the North Wales community to help save the club from folding! She confirmed this week: “Menai track & field is a successful NW athletics club with over 170 juniors and 20 seniors, but unfortunately due to lack of volunteers the future of the club is uncertain. We need to fill key committee roles within the club including chair, treasurer, secretary, plus a number of other roles. “Without these roles the club cannot run. Run over mountain trails, farm tracks, and tarmac, it’s one of the toughest ever marathons, yet it also included some of the most spectacular scenery in the UK. The event   has twice been voted the  Best British Marathon , and the demanding course which encircles Yr Wyddfa – the highest peak in Wales – has served to makes this an iconic event in the running calendar. Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   A trio of Road Runners took part in the Porth Eirias 10k race last Saturday morning and they all gained podium places and recorded some excellent results. Stuart Culverhouse  finished in 8th place overall in 41.24 and he was 2nd in his M50 age cat, whilst  Carla Green  was on top form again as the 1st female finisher, (11th overall), and she won her F50 age cat in 42.14, whilst master veteran  Mike Hayton  enjoyed another good performance in 99th place, and he also won his M70 age cat in 59.42. Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Conwy parkrun attracted the usual mix of half-term entrants, visitors, and both social and club runners to another sunny but cool morning at the RSPB Nature Reserve. The  Road Runners  had a dozen members involved with  Jonathan Kettle  making a welcome return after a holiday break, and he finished 4th overall and won his VM50 age cat in just 19 minutes and 10 seconds.  Colleague  Will Williams  tried to chase Jonathan down, and he was just one place and twenty-three seconds behind him in 19.33, and he 2nd in the same age cat.  Steve Mason  finished 24th in 22.09, and  Karl Morris  was 28th in 22.19.  Sion Thomas  finished in 39th place in 23.05, with  Tony Price-Jones  49th, and heading back to his best in 23.44, with  Daniel Hennell  hot o

Will performed well in his MV50 age cat on a rather hilly and challenging course despite only just recovering from injury and seemed satisfied after finishing 29th overall in thirty-three minutes and one-second. And plaudits were also given to NWRRC member  Karen Butler  who finished 16th in her VW65-75 age cat (24th overall) and she was the1st Welsh veteran athlete in this section
