Lights, camera, action, for club runners at Blackpool Illuminations races...

Four club members celebrated a night out at Blackpool last Saturday and competed in the ‘Run the Lights’ 10k & 5k races, which also marked the start of the famous Illuminations at this popular Lancashire seaside resort.
Kelly Alford and her partner Cai Roberts were both in dazzling form and ran together throughout the 10k event, with Kelly also celebrating a new course PB by about a minute in 50.42 and finished 4th in her F35 age cat in 111th position as the 22nd female runner, with Cai sharing the same time, and just one place behind.
And praise too for Mandy Owen who ran very well after recovering from a period of ill health and finished in 216th place. She he was the 56th female runner in 57.21, and her husband Charlie Owen, who is recovering from an Achilles injury, opted for the 5k race, and he enjoyed a strong finish in 143rd place in 35.27.
Jon Evans raced across the Pond...

Road Runner Jon Evans travelled across the pond to race in the Roosevelt Island DC parkrun in America at the weekend and claimed a magnificent 2nd spot in his MV55 age cat in a good time of 23.22, finishing in 9th place overall. This was Jon’s fastest parkrun of the year and afterwards he said: “It was a great experience albeit a hot and turgid run.”
Hot run at Tatton Park for Rob Fryer...
*Rob Fryer (*pictured above) enjoyed a hot run in the sun last Saturday morning during the Tatton Park 10k race where he finished 72nd amidst a large entry of 303 runners, and he also claimed 2nd place in his M65 age cat.
Summer Relay for NWRRC members on the prom...
The runners-up team included Harry Driscoll, Adam Lemalle and Rachel Morris. Plaudits were later given to all the competitors, and helpers, with special thanks to Carla Green for arranging the teams, and to John Hatton for providing the race numbers, pins, and water. Additional deserved praise was also given to Mike Hayton and Kevin Higgins for the buffet arrangements.
