Great result for Martin Green at Wrexham Elite Marathon.

Martin Green confirmed his pedigree once again as a top marathon runner and a keen competitor with another tremendous performance at the Wrexham Elite Marathon last Sunday.
The NWRRC member finished the tough 7-lap course in a great time of 2 hours 31 minutes and 19 seconds in a race that attracted numerous elite athletes who were all capable of running a Sub 3-hour marathon on a new world accredited fast course along closed roads.
The provisional results confirm that Martin finished 15th out of 167 finishers, and he came 2nd in his MV45 age cat. The overall marathon was won by Hugh Armstrong (Ballina AC) who set a new Welsh all comers record of 2.14.02.
Afterwards Martin said: “These marathons don’t get any easier, at half-way in 74:00, then got slower……pleased to finish, no complaints, onto the next one!”

Special report by Don Hale. donhaleblog.blogspot.com/2025   Storm Amy forced the postponement of numerous parkruns throughout the UK last Saturday with North Wales events in particular badly affected by course flooding, heavy rain and gale force winds. Regular events at Newborough Forest, Nant y Pandy, Wepre, Penrhyn Castle, Conwy, Llangollen, Prestatyn, and Wrexham’s  Park in the Past parkruns  were all affected, with the Ruthin Memorial parkrun one of the few survivors. The Ruthin event on the Memorial Playing Fields, attracted 146 hardy runners including 74 visitors, with many travelling from far afield after searching hard to find a live parkrun, and despite the challenging conditions, ten people still recorded some very worthy personal best (PB) times. Report by Don Hale. donhaleblog.blogspot.com/2025   It was wild, wet, and windy for over 1,000 athletes at the Anglesey 10k and half marathon events on St David’s Day, last Sunday morning, with the majority of entrants tackling the longer race distance over a challenging new course. Report by Don Hale. donhaleblog.blogspot.com/2025   NWRRC endurance athlete Sarah Ferguson Hudson went solo on Sunday and competed in the Bromsberrow Speed Runway 10k, this time without her husband Ben, and thought it was going to be an easy and flattish type run…but how wrong was she! After her race she explained:  “Oh, my word. I should really read more carefully what I sign myself up to…   I thought it was a flat road race, and not 10k of hills, mud, fields, traps, and more. I was b ack in Gloucestershire where I grew up, and catching up with school friends.” *Despite all her challenges, Sarah (*pictured right) ran well and she finished 50th overall out of 159 entrants and the 16th female in 58.07. www.coastandcountry.blog

The meeting will be held by Zoom The motion for the meeting will be It is noted that the BMAF executive committee has a large number of vacancies and with just three members is not quorate.  In light of this, the BMAF Council will take on the responsibility of finding and appointing additional people to serve as officers on the BMAF Executive until the next AGM to ensure that the Business of the BMAF can continue. For a period of approximately eight weeks two areas of the promenade that will have semi permanent kiosks built on them have been cordened off with metal fencing. They are essentially at each end of the Cayley embankment, one near the slipway approximately 400 m from the start and the second approximately 1000m from the start.
