Nearly 300 entrants of all ages and abilities were welcomed to an unusually sun-drenched Conwy parkrun last Saturday morning for the traditional bumper holiday event.

With many local club athletes including NWRRC runners busy preparing for the later Easter 5k Dash on the prom, the top placings went to visitors Craig Derbyshire M30, in 1st place in 17 minutes 35 seconds, with Oliver Bernstein M30, (Chorlton Runners) 2nd in 17.51, and junior athlete Sam Gunning JM15-17, finishing 3rd in 17.58.

Only three Road Runners took part in the warm 5k challenge this week with Mark Jessett finishing 6th overall and 2nd in his MV35 age cat in 18.50, with Steve Mason 27th and 4th in his MV 45-49 cat in 22.16, and Dave Spofforth172nd in 29.38.

Dave however ran with his son Ben, who finished 4th in his JM10 age cat with both sharing the same time, and Dave’s wife Nicola again ran with their daughter Elowen and recorded PBs again. Elowen finished 264th and she was 3rd in her JW10 age cat in 37.40, with Nicola 265th in 37.44.

*The Ladies race was won by Amy McKechnie (Queensbury RC) and she was the 1st VW40 age cat, and 10th overall in 20.23, with Jo Buckley (Bingley Harriers) the 1st VW45 and 21st overall in 21.37, and Melanie Bailey claimed 3rd place, and 36th overall in 22.57, whilst additionally finishing 2nd in the same age cat as the event winner Jo.

Gethin in Amsterdam parkrun.


Gethin Wyn Jones ran in the Amsterdam Box parkrun last weekend and finished 9th and 4th in his age cat in 20.48.

South Cheshire 10k run for Kelly and Cai

 

Kelly-Marie Alford and Cai Roberts travelled North last Sunday to take part in the Air Products South Cheshire 10k last Sunday. The pair ran together and were pleased with their results in unusually warm conditions with Kelly 112th and 5th in her VW35 age cat in 51.12 with Cai sharing the same time and was placed 113th.
