Well done to Wynn Howe for a tremendous effort in winning six medals from six events at the recent Welsh Masters T&F champs at Yate, and to Juliet Sidney for her golden double in the sprints.

One Welsh Masters athlete however raised a very important point to me by saying that no one has bothered to send in a report about this important event, Unfortunately, this is a common problem that I have had ever since becoming involved with WMAL.

There is plenty of pre-publicity but little or no results and reports sent in for publication, so come on lads and lassies, don't be shy, let the website know about your efforts!

Chris Pruski, the records co-ordinator and hard working WMAL officlal has explained a very important point about these championships:
Once again the champs were at Yate. I overheard someone at track side say "why are the Welsh masters champs here".
Well the answer is quite simple, we are lucky that the committee of three, yes three put this event on at all and also the indoor championships. Trying to get members to support by volunteering to help arrange the champs is a disappointing activity.
The champs should be in Wales of course. There are not because we can't get enough officials.
Last year my wife volunteered and dealt with presenting medals whilst I competed.
Of course it's difficult to help out when you are competing, for my part last year and previous years, I competed, officiated and volunteered for admin.
What WMAL need are a group of younger members to help so that the event can return to Wales. Well done to all who took part. It was great to see you all and enjoy the atmosphere of a well organised joint event.
Thank you to Steven Grant Avon AA(Yate AC for superb hosting of the event and of course to Brett Davis, Rod Davies, Dave Watson and you Don.
Regards, Chris Pruski

These are just a couple of some notable results:

Juliet Sidney: The Pocket Rocket - Juliet Sidney explained; "Great day at the Welsh Champs 2 sbs and golds in the 100m and 200m. Big thanks to @elite82high for coaching and support and @andrew_searyphysio to looking after my quad. It's a long season so just keep going. Wonderful to catch up with my masters friends.

*Some additional active shots of determination at the Yate championships.

Wynn Howe's success story.

So 11 days ago I set out at 4am to drive almost 200 miles to Yate to compete in 6 events for my age group. I won all 6 Gold medals,

Some of the events were really competitive and everyone was serious about doing well. I drove back knackered but very happy with my achievements.

Wynn Howe
