Win for Bryn at Conwy parkrun after returning from America.

Bryn Woodall was the first man home at last Saturday’s Conwy parkrun with another fine performance to easily outsprint his rivals with a fast time of 17 minutes 37 seconds.

The Colwyn Bay athlete who is back home from his American studies for the summer also won his SM18 age cat and finished almost thirty-seconds ahead of his second-placed chaser Matthew Baker in 18.06, with Road Runner Steve Mason third in 18.45.

The 1st Ladies title was again claimed by the super-fast Alice Johnston (Les Croupiers), who finished 7th overall with a great new PB 19.14, to also claim 1st place in her SW30 age cat, and it was another family double with Alice’s father Sandy Johnston winning his MV70 cat in a remarkable time of just 22.42.

Steve Mason turned in a determined run following his recent knee injury and beat his four-year parkrun record by a mere three-seconds to record a great new PB, and he also won his VM45 age cat. 

NWRRC entered ten seniors and two juniors and collected four age category wins and a very warm day that attracted more than two-hundred runners from all over the UK.

Chris Davies was 9th in 19.44 and he finished 3rd in his MV35 cat, with Harry Driscoll 11th, and he also won his SM20 age cat in 20.09. Stuart Culverhouse though was hot on Harry’s heels, and he also won his MV50 age cat in 20.16, in 13th place overall. Adam Lamelle made his Conwy parkrun debut after a series of good results in local races, and despite feeling unwell during the week, he didn’t disappoint again, finishing 31st overall in 23.09.

And young Joe Culverhouse continued with his top form to finish 2nd in his JM11-14 age cat in 44th place overall in 23.53, and in complete contrast age-wise, three NWRRC veteran runners finished practically together over this 5k course.

Rob Fryer ran home in 74th place overall in 25.30, and 2nd in his MV65 cat, with Don Hale 78th and 3rd MV65 in 25.50, with Michael (Pat) Finnie running only his second parkrun this year finished 80th overall in 25.57 and 4th in his MV60 cat. And Dave Spofforth again ran with his young son Ben, and the pair finishing together again in 100/101st places in 27.10, with Ben 2nd in his JM10 cat.

Pentir Fun Run raised funds for Ukraine.

The midweek Pentir Fun Run attracted a large mixed entry of some 82 quality and social runners to this small village race, which also became a special fundraising event in support of Ukraine.

Promising young athletics star Noa Vaughan (Eryri Harriers) made his mark again to win this 4.5-miles trail race with another impressive display in just 16 minutes 53 seconds to also win his U-23 age cat prize. Warren Renkel (Run Free) finished 2nd in 17.05, with another top youngster, Sam Gunning (Cybi Striders), finishing 3rd in 17.23.

Vicky Taylor was the only NWRRC representative following her other recent trail races, and once again she competed well to claim 54th place in 28.05. And local running couple Nic Brook and Gemma Moore from Eryri Harriers, also enjoyed a good evening out, with Nic finishing 5th overall in 17.47, and Gemma 8th, and the 1st Female runner home in 19.13, to additionally claim first place in her F-Open age cat.
