It was a cool, crisp, autumn morning for 259 finishers at the Conwy Parkrun where Jonathan Kettle from North Wales Road Runners was the first man home in just 17 minutes and 27 seconds.

Jonathan easily won his VM45-49 age category and set a hot pace for his rivals, with club colleague Mark Jessett finishing 3rd overall in 18.21, and he also won his VM35-39 age cat.

NWRRC entered fifteen athletes and collected four age category wins and two personal best times, but many members were either recovering from major marathons and recent races or were preparing for other events over the weekend.

Martin and Carla Green used the parkrun as a recovery exercise following last week’s dual success at the Manchester Marathon, and both ran well together again with Martin finishing in 19th place in 21.23, and Carla (*pictured left) winning her VW45-49 age cat in 21.28.

Sean Butler continues to impress finishing 2nd in his VM60-64 age cat in 24th place overall in 21.53, with Gethin Wyn Jones (*pictured lower left) 37th in 22.22 followed by Daniel Owens, running this week with his guide Tony Price Jones, finished in 45th and 46th places respectively in 22.44.

Veteran runners Don Hale and Rob Fryer were preparing for the North Wales championships within the Flintshire 10k, so both members took it steady, with Don 3rd VM65-69 cat in 79th place in 24.31, with Rob 93rd in 25.15. Mia Morris celebrated joining the club (officially) and her 16th birthday by winning her JW15-17 age cat in 27.10, and vet Ian Turner returned to parkrun following his recent London Marathon success, finishing in 139th spot in 28.45.

Meanwhile, newcomers, husband and wife team Sue and Mike Smith enjoyed further progress with both claiming excellent PBs at Conwy, with Sue finishing in 149th place overall in 29.24, and Mike 162nd in 30.42, whilst Rachel Morris, who was recovering from her recent half-marathon, finished 201st in 33.34.

Tourists on the run.

Three NWRRC athletes enjoyed good runs at the Nova Prestatyn parkrun last Saturday with all claiming superb new PBs, in addition to two age category victories amongst the 123 finishers.

Stuart Culverhouse ran with his young son Joe and finished in 23rd and 24th places, with Joe also winning his JM10 age cat in 23.18, and Stuart finished 2nd in his VM45-49 cat, whilst master veteran Peter Armstrong won his VM70-74 age cat in 28th place in 23.40.

Joan Edwards made a welcome return to running after injury and an absence of 19-months and finished 5th in her age cat at the Chippenham parkrun in 36.44.
