DON HALE'S MIDWEEK FOOTBALL FORECAST

Tuesday 3 November 2026

European football takes centre stage tonight

Welcome to Don Hale's Football Predictions, bringing you my personal thoughts on the big matches, predicted results and scorelines, with a look at what the statistical forecasting models are suggesting.

Tonight's programme includes nine Champions League matches, with several intriguing contests. Barcelona face Aston Villa, Manchester United entertain Roma, and Atlético Madrid take on Bayern Munich.

These are my predictions for entertainment and discussion. Football is never an exact science!

UEFA Champions League – tonight's predictions

FixtureDon Hale's prediction
Galatasaray v Stuttgart2–1
Shakhtar Donetsk v Sporting CP1–2
Barcelona v Aston Villa2–1
Manchester United v Roma2–1
LASK v Slovan Bratislava1–1
Atlético Madrid v Bayern Munich1–2
Villarreal v Paris Saint-Germain1–2
Feyenoord v Inter Milan1–2
Bodø/Glimt v Lille2–1

These scorelines are Don Hale's editorial selections, not scores supplied by a forecasting provider.

What do the models say?

There are some interesting comparisons available from today's statistical forecasting services.

For Barcelona v Aston Villa, SportSignals' model gives Barcelona a 68% home-win estimate, with 16% for a draw and 16% for an Aston Villa win. MatchSharp also leans towards Barcelona, at 74%.

For Atlético Madrid v Bayern Munich, SportSignals gives the home side 29%, a draw 20% and Bayern 52%. MatchSharp's market-lean indicator also favours Bayern, at 41%.

These figures are model estimates, not guarantees. Different providers use different methods, and a model's percentage should not be confused with a bookmaker's odds.

The Don Hale verdict

Barcelona v Aston Villa is one of the night's most interesting contests. The models favour Barcelona, but Villa's presence makes this a match worth watching closely.

Manchester United v Roma could be another tight encounter. I've given United the edge at home, but Roma are capable of making life difficult.

Atlético Madrid v Bayern Munich looks particularly difficult to call. Bayern get my vote, although Atlético's home advantage could make this a close contest.

Golden Goal

Tonight's Golden Goal: To be confirmed after checking the starting line-ups.

The Golden Goal is a light-hearted first-goalscorer and predicted-minute selection. I will only name a player once the relevant team line-ups and availability have been checked.

Prediction tracker

After the final whistles, I'll return to the predictions and record:

  • Correct match outcomes.

  • Exact-score successes.

  • Golden Goal results, where a selection was made.

Getting the result right and predicting the exact score are two different challenges, so they will be recorded separately.

A note to readers

Don Hale's Football Predictions is intended purely for football interest and entertainment. The forecasts, predicted scores and Golden Goal selections are personal opinions, supported where possible by statistical information and comparisons with other published forecasting sources.

Football is unpredictable, and no prediction is guaranteed. This feature is not betting advice or an encouragement to gamble. Please enjoy the football, treat the predictions as a bit of fun, and never risk money you cannot afford to lose.
