For years now, I have harboured a secret wish to write a book documenting some of the many eventful days and experiences that have occurred throughout my angling life.

Due to work commitments and fishing however, I never really had the time to devote to it, but recently I found myself in a situation, through unforeseen circumstances, whereby I had a lot of time at my disposal, and it seemed the perfect time to fulfil my wish.

When it came to actually sitting down to begin writing I found myself a bit stumped as to where to start. I had such a multitude of memories, many of which lacked clarity.

Now and then a photo, or an old piece of tackle from the early days brought a day or a fish, long since forgotten into sharp focus, but for the most part much of it was indistinct.

Most of the catches, days and friends merged into one huge memory without detail. But some did retain clarity, probably because they've meant so much to me, coupled with their frequent inclusion in fishing conversations with angling friends.

When I began writing this book my intentions were that I would write my experiences in sequence, as they occurred throughout my angling life, but I soon realized it was hopeless.

As I recounted and wrote about one event, another, that occurred earlier or later in my fishing life would come to mind, but then I thought, does it really matter?

So, in the end this book is mostly a collection of my personal fishing stories, and some opinions that I wanted to share. Doubtless, when it's completed, I will remember more, but you have to stop somewhere. Perhaps one day life permitting I will write another.
