Two athletes from Dalzell Runners have passed their Run Leaders course thanks to Cartrefi Conwy...

Two enthusiastic athletes from Dalzell Runners have recently passed their Run Leaders course and have thanked Cartrefi Conwy – an independent not-for-profit registered landlord - for their support and sponsorship.

Dalzell Runners was formed following the loss of well-known local athlete John Dalzell. This is a brief summary from one of the group’s coaches, and organisers, Tony Price-Jones, confirming the true spirit of a growing community running group, and introduces two newly qualified Run Leaders.

This is Tony’s report… Athletes Dave Jones and Hayley Price Jones have both passed the Run Leaders course and now are qualified leaders for Dalzell Runners. We would like to thank Cartrefi Conwy, who kindly gave us a grant which, without it, we would not be able to keep our group growing.

We encourage anyone with any ability to come along and have a good session. We are a completely FREE GROUP and both Jonathan Kettle and I, as coaches, have always said that we will never charge anyone to attend as we want everyone to be able to join in, and we love to be able to give a little back to the running community.

Dalzell Runners meet on the promenade just opposite ATS in Llandudno on Wednesday’s at 6,20pm ready to start at 6,30pm. It's all completely free, and we use our Facebook page to post the sessions.  We have also obtained some sponsorship from the Belmont Hotel / Llandudno Bay Hotel, who have supplied us with some Hi-Viz running t-shirts and water bottles.

Message from Dave Jones (*pictured right-below).

Hi, I'm Dave. I started running twelve-years ago, and I feel very fortunate to live in North Wales and to have some truly beautiful places to run in, and right on my doorstep.

I mainly focus on road running, and social + races, but I equally enjoy getting out onto the trails in the local hills with my running friends... it's so much easier running in a group.

I've been with Dalzell Runners for three-years, and this amazing friendly, and no-pressure group, set-up by Jonathan Kettle and Tony Price-Jones and it has quickly grown from strength to strength.

I was made to feel very welcome and have received great support and encouragement throughout. I have also made some great friendships and have enjoyed seeing everyone's progress, so, at the backend of 2024, I was asked if I would like to become a Run Leader.

I jumped at the chance and now hope that I can give back the support I have received - and to help other runners - on their running journey and to promote the happiness of running in this group.

Message from Hayley Price-Jones. (*pictured right-below).

My name is Hayley, and I am 50 years old, and I have been running for eight years and have been a member of Dalzell Runners since the beginning.

I have competed in races ranging from 5k to ultra-marathons, and I enjoy both social runs and trail running.

Living in Llandudno, we have access to diverse running options right at our doorstep. It’s an honour to become a leader in the group, and I too would really like to thank Cartrefi Conwy, and thank them for their support and sponsorship.
