URGENT: Volunteers and marshals required at Conwy parkrun for this Saturday, which also includes the launch of the - Conwy Parkrun: 5k Your Way, Move Against Cancer appeal. 

For some unknown reason, the Parkrun Facebook page is out of action, so if anyone can help out this week, would you please contact Bethan Wyn Roberts on her Facebook Messenger link to confirm your availability? If we can’t get enough volunteers this may impact on the event. Thanks.

Report by David Gibson. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   The Swansea Bay 10k is a well-loved event that has been going nearly as long as the London Marathon, and the 2024 set of races held on Sunday 15th September was the 43rd edition. Unlike last year which was wet, the weather this year was good for running with only a bit of a south westerly breeze working against the runners on the outward leg. Whilst the 10k race is the headline element of the day, there are also other races encouraging all members of families to take part. These are a 1k for youngsters seven and under; a 1k for 8 to 11-year-olds, a 3k for older children, and a 10k wheelchair race, which was won by Owain Terrell of Disability Sports Wales in a time of 31:05. Some interesting results for Welsh Masters athletes at the Inter-Area T&F championships at Corby.... Brett Davis reports on the success of WMAL athletes.   Three athletes from Bexley AC represented Welsh Masters Athletics at the Inter-Area track and field championships at Corby last weekend in the throwing events. This included M50  Graham Holder,  shot, discus, and hammer, M60  Andy Rushbrook , shot and high jump, and M70  Peter Hawley  shot. The men came 6th out of 9 teams with wins from  Graham Holder  for the hammer,  Glyn Price  for the pole vault and the M60, 4 x 100m relay team ( Rod Davies ,  Brett Davis ,  Ian Broadhurst , and  Paul Williams ). The women came an amazing 2nd out of 9 teams with wins from  Kath Morgan  W35 high jump,  Mel Garland  W60 high jump, 100m and long jump,  Michelle Thomas  W50 100m and 200m,  Ewelina Ciesielska  W35 3000m and

Organisers at this particular venue began their own journey a few years later, but this popular event has continued to flourish, with the weekly run from the RSPB Nature Reserve attracting over 200,000 finishers in total since the start, as this week they too celebrated their own 420th parkrun. North Wales Cross Country League 2024/25: Latest updates with fixtures and opportunity to run in the Welsh Inter-regional XC champs... Report and photos courtesy of Bernie Jones, NW XCL secretary. LAST CALL: The first North Wales Cross Country League fixture starts at Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay, tomorrow (Saturday 5th October), with junior races starting at 10-30am (Under 15 Boys) and the Senior races starting as usual at 1pm. We are still outstanding team lists from a small number of clubs and the first fixture is on Saturday. Podium places and ten regional medals for NWRRC at the Caernarfon half-marathon
