Two Welsh Masters M70 Best Performances by David Gibson are verified by WMAL...

Welsh Master and Tri Hard Harrier David Gibson from Swansea has now had two Welsh Masters' records verified by WMAL official Chris Pruski.

 

His M70 Welsh Masters Marathon Best Performance was achieved at the 2024 London Marathon in April with a category winning time of 3.13.31, on 21st April 2024. His M70 Welsh Masters Half Marathon Best Performance of 1.27.11, was accomplished at the 2024 Swansea Half Marathon on June 9th.

 

These confirmations come just a few weeks after David came 4th in the World Masters Athletics Championship M70 Half Marathon in Gothenburg and was the recipient of a team silver medal for Great Britain.

 

David started running at the age of 62 doing a 'Couch to 5k' challenge and finds it’s hard to believe how far he has come in the last ten years. He commented "I am really proud of these achievements, which seem a bit unreal for me, but I hope that they can also provide some inspiration to the younger members of my club - Tri Hard Harriers."

JM15-17 debutant  Daniel Lindsey  was the first finisher overall with a great performance in just seventeen minutes dead, and he was one of four runners who all dipped under the eighteen-minute mark, with the first eleven finishers all beating twenty-minutes! Quality athletes and fast times at the new Padarn 5k race Report by Don Hale. donhaleblog.blogspot.com/2026 coastandcountry.blog   There was a good turn-out of mainly elite and club runners at the brand new Padarn Sbrint 5k dash in midweek, where the first eight finishers all dipped under seventeen minutes, and Meirionnydd RC claimed the first four places. Owen Roberts  was the overall winner following a great performance in just 15 minutes and 37 seconds, on this flat and fast course alongside Llyn Padarn at Llanberis, but he faced a stern challenge from club rival  Daniel Kashi  in 15.44, and colleagues  Ben Harding  (16.15) and  Lloyd Williams  (16.19) also battled for top placings. Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com   Twenty-four members of NWRRC took part in the annual Christmas club handicap race, which this year was staged from the Rhos on Sea clock tower to the renovated far end of the promenade and back over a 4.5-mile course. Well organised with times recorded and verified by  Carla Green  and  Elizabeth Driscoll , with support from other members, the handicap rules this time included each runner having to hand in their watches and mobile phones, and the need to predict their finishing times, so that no one knew their exact pace, or whether their estimated times were likely to be accurate, until they actually reached the finish line.
