FAW Welsh Cup 24/25 Knockout rounds 21 Sep 24; Kinmel Bay FC (3) v Brickfield Rangers (1) at Y Morfa sports centre Kinmel Bay.

Report by manager Alex Craig. And some great action photos by Barry Griffiths.

Kinmel Bay welcomed Brickfield Rangers to Y Morfa on Saturday the 21st both teams have made a fantastic start to the season both being unbeaten with one draw each.

Bay where quick out of the blocks pressing Brickfield all over the pitch not allowing them any time to settle. Danni McIlvogue pinching the ball from Brickfield CM and playing a perfect pass out to the right for the on-rushing Connor Morris who beat his man and unleashed a thunder shot at goal.

Connor doesn't miss them from there, 1-0 Bay and 7 minutes on the clock. Brickfield where in shock and they couldn't settle with the Bay pressing them again and again and not allowing them to play or to build any passages of play.

As the half went on both teams were chasing another goal and Bay going close on a couple of occasions. Nyal Hughes shot just going wide a great save by the Brickfield keeper to deny Mason Richards and some great last ditch defending from Brickfield saw off a great run by Sean Sheridan.

At the other end a great save by Ash Lavender denied Brickfield the equaliser and a couple of way ward shots from the visiting team didn't really trouble Bay too much with the defence standing strong and winning most of the over-the-top balls and Ash collecting the others.

It wasn't until 41 minutes before Bay got their well-deserved second a perfectly whipped in corner from Nyal sees Sheridan leap the highest and convert with a bullet header into the back post what a finish it was. Bay 2-0 now and that's how it stayed half-time, Bay 2 Brickfield 0.

Second half and the Brickfield must have had a strong talking to as well as a shape change and a couple of subs as they came out flying, putting the Bay under pressure from every angle especially their number 19 Jay Richardson who was flying down the right side playing some very dangerous balls across goal; one of the crosses found an attacker free at the back post but his shot smashed the upright and rebounded out to another Brickfield player who shot went just over the bar.

It wasn't long though before Brickfield were rewarded for their work rate when a great inswinger corner was played in from the left a bit of a scramble in the box and the Brickfield number 17 who had only been on the pitch 7 minutes Benjamin Dawson fired home to make it 2-1.

You could see Bay were a little worried with all the pressure Brickfield had put them under, was this the moment Brickfield could turn things around. Bay dealt with the pressure very well and cleared everything away but it was only 5 minutes later and Bay's Liam Jones picked the ball up at the back and seen Sheridan making that run through the middle and Liam pops a perfect 40 yards pass to Sheridan’s feet he runs between the two centre backs and draws the keeper out fakes a shot the keeper goes down and he calmly slots the ball into the back of the net a great goal and 3-1 to Bay 57 minutes played.

Surely that put the game to bed, but no, Bay wanted more and as the half went on, they had more and more of the possession and with fresh leg being introduced through the remaining minutes of the half they looked very dangerous with a number of shots going just wide or the Brickfield keeper making some great saves. Bay also had a very strong penalty shout waved away.

A very solid performance from Bay against a very well drilled and organised side in Brickfield Rangers who were very courteous in defeat and a great bunch of lads.
