The weather was almost perfect last Saturday morning as nearly 300 mixed ability club and social runners took part in the Conwy parkrun, with many athletes returning to this event following injury, illness, or other important races.

Veteran track athlete Steve Gardner from North Wales Road Runners turned his hand to the parkrun this week after setting records in recent national and international overseas championship events, and he led home a team of fourteen club colleagues to finish in 5th place overall in 19 minutes and 31 seconds, and he also won his VW60 age cat.

James Jones continues to impress with a new course PB of 20.17 in 7th place, and he was 2nd in his SM30 cat, and finished just ahead of Stuart Culverhouse who was only one place and eight seconds behind James in 20.25, and he won his VM50 cat.
Steve Bozier ran well despite battling with injury in 14th place in 20.56, and he also won his VM45 cat, with Steve Mason 18th and 2nd in his VM50 cat in 21.06, and newcomer Paul Aubert was 23rd in 21.43.
Youngster Joe Culverhouse was the age winner in his JM11-14 category after returning to parkrun following his football adventures and a recent injury problem. It was good to see him back again and he ran well in 40th place in 23.44.
Jamie Tharme was another returnee finishing 48th in 24.08, with Sion Thomas 56th in 24.35, and Hannah Griffith was in good form, and she enjoyed a steady run in 69th place, and the 14th female in 25.31, and she finished 2nd in her VW50 cat.

Master veteran Don Hale knocked a minute off last week’s finishing time in 27.11, as his recovery plan continued, and he was 2nd in his VM70 age cat in 105th place. Nia Lister had an excellent run in 131st place, and she was 3rd in her VW35 cat in 28.07, with Helen Hannam in close pursuit and just two places and six-seconds adrift of Nia in 28.13, and master veteran Mark Mason was 147th and 4th in his VM70 cat in 29.20.

*The first runner back at Conwy overall was Josh Keogh in 18.25, with two ladies unusually claiming the second and third places, including Anna Drinkwater (Eryri Harriers), *pictured right, who was 2nd in 18.46, with Emily Hanlon 3rd in 19.02, therefore Anna and Emily taking the top two female places respectively, there was only Olivia Jones to add to the potential podium places as the 3rd female finisher in 22.14.

*Praise was given to the run director and to all the volunteers and marshals. This is a link to the provisional results.https://www.parkrun.org.uk/conwy/results/latestresults/
