There was a good turnout of club runners for the final cross-country fixture of the season at the Marches School, Oswestry last Saturday in the David Alun Williams, North Wales Senior CC League, sponsored by Grand Prix.

There were some excellent performances by GOG Triathlon and North Wales Road Runners and in particular by Elizabeth Evans who claimed the 1st place in the WV70 race, with Ann D’Alburquerque 2nd, and Ann’s husband John finished 4th in the O65 race.

*GOG Triathlon: Senior Women: 70th Elizabeth Evans 27.04 and 1st W70, 74th Vicky Darby-Brown 27.24 and 9th WV40, and 82nd Ann D’Alburquerque 28.31 and 2nd WV70. Male Masters: 20th John D’Alburquerque 30.51 and 4th MV75. 

*NOTE: Ann D’Alburquerque also collected the overall prize as the 1st WV70 series winner

*North Wales Road Runners: Senior Women: 51st Kay Hatton 23.40 and 5th WV55, and 59th Cheryl Frost 24.40 and 7th WV55.

1st MV70 Peter Hough (Shropshire Shufflers) 24.05, 1st MV80: Jack Thomas (Buckley AC) 32.52, and 1st MV85: Roger Harrison Jones (Prestatyn RC) 32.43.

Senior Women: 1st Martha Owen (Deeside) 18.18, 2nd Tracy Rogers (Buckley) 18.53, 3rd Gemma Moore (Eryri Harriers) 19.00.


Bernie Jones, the hardworking secretary/referee of the League confirmed: “A big thank you to Dave Newton, and to all the Oswestry Olympian marshals and volunteers who helped set up the course and looked after us in the canteen afterwards. The course was in fantastic condition and probably the driest I’ve seen in the past 20-years!

“It was a great end to the season and some fantastic running throughout the season. Well done to all the winners. The individual and team winners are listed below, beginning of May and a full list of the individual standings will be published on the website later in the week.

“The AGM will be held at the end of April/beginning of May, and I am looking for host venues for next season.”
