GOG star Simon Cole set a new course record last week at the Merry Meeting parkrun at Maine in the USA with a superb time of just 16 minutes and 43 seconds.

Two GOG runners selected for Wales at BMAF international cross country race in Dublin next weekend.

Two GOG athletes have been selected to represent Wales in Dublin at the BMAF Master’s Cross Country International next Saturday 12th November. 

Geran Hughes will compete in his MV 50-54 age cat, whilst Ann d’Alberquque will run as a MV70-74 veteran. This will be the 33rd running of this spectacular International cross-country event and returns after a two-year break due to Covid-19 restrictions.

The selectors have also included many well-known and experienced runners including Martin and Carla Green from NWRRC, Gemma Moore and Maggie Owen from Eryri Harriers, together with Prestatyn AC athletes Gordon Jones, Martin Corvriend, Steve Skates, and Gareth Hughes, in addition to many other very good club runners.

There will be four races in total, in the following categories. Race 1: Men & Women 65+; Race 2: Women 35-64; Race 3: Men 50-64; Race 4: Men 35-49.

Hat-trick of age cat wins for the GOG’s at Conwy parkrun.

A Dozen GOG Triathlon runners took part in the Conwy parkrun last Saturday and claimed a hat-trick of age category wins amongst five podium places.

Despite the blustery conditions, the club team packed well and recorded some excellent finishing times. Steven Owenwas the first club man home in 15th place, and he was 3rd in his MV35 cat in 21.19.

He was followed by Lizzie Irvine in 38th spot and she won her FV35 cat in 23.56, with Sarah Gallacher 41st, and she won her FV40 cat in 24.44. Nicola Tomlinson claimed the second place in the same age cat as Lizzie, finishing 51st overall in 25.23.

Andrew Ellwood was 54th in 25.35, with Stephen Dutton 63rd in 26.13, and Paul Algieri finished in 77th place in 26.54. Clare Parsley running with her daughter won her FV45 age cat in 89th place overall in 27.26, and Paula Stevens was 96th in 27.47. Wayne Roberts finished 119th in 29.58, and Sarah Ellwood was 146th in 32.43, whilst Dinah Hazeldine ran home in 183rd place in 41.06.
