Three members of North Wales Road Runners were amongst the seventy-five finishers at last Tuesday night’s spectacular Great Orme fell race.

Held in bright, warm sunshine, over a tough course with some incredible scenery, the event attracted several top athletes from many parts of the UK including Wrexham, Ilkley, Liverpool, Lymm, Calder, and even from Manx Fell Runners in the Isle of Man. 

In addition, there was a good number of local fell runners from all ages, representing GOG Triathlon, Denbigh Harriers, Buckley Runners, Prestatyn RC, and Eryri, amongst many others, with the latter club entering nineteen members.



*It was tough at the top for runners including Charlotte-Rose Wilton-Jones

NWRRC had three runners taking part with Josh Keogh the first club man home in 15th place in 35 minutes 53 seconds. Karl Morris who loves the Welsh hills and fells finished in 34th place in 41.48, and Charlotte-Rose Wilton-Jones made a welcome return to live action as the 8th female in 53rd position overall in 46.06.

The race was won by M40 athlete Matthew Roberts from Calder Valley Fell Runners in a very fast 30.41. In second place was Gavin Roberts (Eryri Harriers), who was just eleven seconds behind Matthew in 30.52, with Joe Steward (Un) in 3rd place in 31.41

For the ladies, Lucy Williamson (Ilkley Harriers) claimed the top spot in 16th place overall in 35.54, with Tracy Rogers (Buckley Runners) 2nd in 39.24, and Jackie Lee (Eryri Harriers) 3rd in 40.39.

*The GOG Triathlon club had five runners competing with Neil Harris 43rd (43.19), Chris Beardmore 44th (43.23), Chris Bennet 52nd (45.53), Miklos Biro 57th (47.27), and Stephen Dutton 62nd (50.15).

The event started and finished by Llandudno Pier and travelled along the promenade before climbing up by the side of the Little Orme to the town’s ‘Welcome’ sign, then following an equally undulating route back home. Report by Don Hale donhaleblog.blogspot.com/2025   Ben and Sarah Ferguson Hudson enjoyed a busy weekend of running by taking part in the Crosby parkrun on Saturday and the Aintree half marathon on Sunday. The NWRRC pair made their course debuts at Crosby and Ben finished 25th overall, and he was 4th in his VM45 age cat in 23.01, with Sarah winning her FW45 age cat in 49th place, and the 3rd female in 24.58.  In the Aintree half race the following day, Ben was 93rd out of 460 entrants in 1.39.02, and he finished 4th again in his M45 age cat. Sarah also ran very well and she was 302nd overall and the 55th female finisher in 2.02.12, and she too was 4th in her F45 cat.
