Road Running quartet amongst winning North Wales Cross-Country team at Inter-Regional championships.

The quartet, which included Cheryl Frost, Kay Hatton, Will Williams , and Steve Gardner, were all eventually part of the overall winning team that finished ahead of rivals West Wales, East Wales, and South Wales, to take the deserved plaudits. North Wales ladies won the female team prize with 121-points, whilst the male team finished 3rd, yet the overall points tally confirmed that North Wales were the outright team victors of this prestigious challen...

Photos by Steve Jeffery. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com   Ten North Wales Road Runners were amongst a bumper turn-out of over three-hundred entrants at the Conwy parkrun last Saturday with the usual numbers boosted due to a local half-marathon event the following day.  This popular annual race, well organised by  RunWales , always attracts a massive following and ensures this particular parkrun date records one of the busiest days of the year, as many athletes utilise this event as an ideal warm-up.  After the parkrun however, it was hoped that most of the participants had a change of footwear available, as once again, this saturated riverside 5k course dominated proceedings, and made the narrow, twisty, riverside route quite a challenge, especially with so many visiting runners. Report by Don Hale.  https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmasters.co.u k Two veteran North Wales Road Runners formed part of the Welsh Athletics  Masters team that competed well at the  British and Irish Masters Cross-Country International staged at Tollcross Park, Glasgow on Saturday. Martin Green  ran in Race 4 for athletes aged between M35-49, and he finished in 78th place in 29 minutes and 21 seconds and was 27th overall in his individual M45 age category. And his club colleague  Will Williams  made his Welsh Athletics Masters XC debut and ran in Race 3 for athletes between M50-64, and he was very pleased with his overall performance finishing 45th in 30.09, and 25th in his M50 age cat. *Martin Green (*above left) with Will Williams. Lesley covered an incredible distance of over 60kms in an overall time of 10 hours, 2 minutes, and 14 seconds, to finish a highly respectable 106th, and she was 5th in her VW50 age cat. *Lesley Goodson - pictured above and below - during her epic ultra-distance race and (*below right), Lesley with Anthony Paul Davies. Five age cat wins for the Road Runners at another puddle-filled Conwy parkrun - plus other race results.

Photos by Steve Jeffery. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   A dozen North Wales Road Runners took part in another puddled-filled parkrun event at Conwy last Saturday, where, despite the awful conditions underfoot, they still managed to win five respective age categories, plus one second placing, and one third. During an unusually bright and sunny morning,  Steve Mason  led the NWRRC team home with a determined performance over this near waterlogged 5k course in 4th place overall in 19 minutes and 32 seconds, and he won his VM45 age cat.  Will Evans  then celebrated a new course PB, but finished just six-seconds, and one place behind Steve, but won his VM40 cat in 19.38, with  Harry Driscoll  9th in 20.07, and he too ...

The Twin Piers race organiser Russell Godwin has now confirmed details of this popular event that has been revised again after facing some unforeseen problems in recent times with delayed work on both Colwyn Bay and Rhos on Sea promenades.  He has just sent out the race details to registered entrants this week containing all the relevant information. And this week, Russell said:  “ We have been assured works will be complete which is why have had to leave it so late to advise everyone. Thanks for your kind words and we appreciate your assistance to promote the race.
