Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com   It was another super-busy, fast, and very warm Conwy parkrun last Saturday with many entrants travelling from far and wide just to enjoy the splendours of this picturesque 5k course. Steve Mason  led home a team of seventeen  North Wales Road Runners , with many taking it steady due to other competing fixtures over the weekend. Steve enjoyed a good run however, finishing in 15th place in 21.39, with  Adam Lemalle  18th in 21.46, and  Benjamin Brummitt  35th in 22.37, and 3rd in his SM30 age cat.   *Steve Mason (*above left), with Benjamin Brummitt and Karen Butler. Master vet  Barrie Wells  recorded an excellent time of 24.43, and won his VM70 cat in 77th place, with  Karen Butler  on top form in 85th in 25.08, with a new course PB, and she also won her VM65 age cat. Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com   Dozens of runners and supporters from the North Wales Road Running Club, Dalzell Runners, and from numerous other local running groups, and individuals, took part in a non-competitive 5k run last Saturday night in memory of their colleague and friend John Dalzell, who tragically lost his life twelve-months ago. Event organisers Jonathan Kettle , and Tony Price-Jones , aided by several others, staged a pleasant social run in his honour, with most runners wearing a special yellow t-shirt and shared their own personal memories of this popular athlete, before later raising a glass to John at the Llandudno Bay Hotel. *Pictured above and below - runners, friends, and  supporters  commemo

The North Wales Road Runner who has been training hard all year – despite some unexpected health problems of late – was delighted to be offered this unique opportunity to represent his country in such a major competition. Hard and dry again at Conwy parkrun with another bumper entry...plus other results. Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   It was another packed parkrun at Conwy last Saturday where 377 entrants tackled the challenging but picturesque 5k river trail from the RSPB Nature Reserve on a very dry and bumpy course. North Wales Road Runners  had fifteen members involved, and the first club man home was the rapidly improving  Harry Driscoll,  who finished 6th overall in just 19 minutes and 7 seconds, and he was 2nd in his SM20-24 age category. Jonathan Kettle  ran as a pacer for his club colleague  Benjamin Brummitt , who celebrated a new course PB in 10th place in 19.31, and he was 2nd in his SM30 cat, with  Jonathan  11th in 19.33, and he won his VM50 cat.  Steve Bozier  also enjoyed a good run after returning to fitness, and he was 30th overall, and 3rd in his VM45 cat in 21.42.   *Harry Driscoll (*above left), with Benjamin Brummitt, and Jona

Report by Don Hale . https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   It proved to be another interesting and exciting annual club relay competition for members of the North Wales Road Running Club last Tuesday night on Llandudno promenade. Some thirty names were initially drawn out of the hat and placed into ten relay teams of three, which introduced male, female, and mixed ages and ability runners, who each ran varied leg distances from about 1k plus, to one mile, and two miles, with the final leg involving some of the club’s top racing athletes, who generated a very close and fast finish. *Pictured above - the start of the first relay leg - and below the second leg change-over to the final sprinters, With the ages and abilities shuffled within the teams, the races constantly attracted great compe

Welsh Masters Athletics launches new style kit and appeal for runners for the Inter-Area challenge. Report by Rod Davies, the  Membership Secretary, Welsh Masters Athletics Limited. The Inter-area is at Corby on Saturday 7th September, with the timetable and rules attached, and there is also a new style of kit coming!   The women’s team has already had a selection process but there are gaps so any members who are interested, please contact Eleri on   eleri9uk@yahoo.com  or Louise on   louisekirby901@gmail.com   Selection for the men’s team is starting now with any interested members to contact Brett on   brett.davis1@sky.com  with their name, age group, event(s) of interest and any form they feel is relevant.
