Massive medal haul for Welsh Masters Athletics ladies at the British championships held at Moorways, Derby.   Report by Don Hale.   https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Welsh Masters Athletics members celebrated their success in style last weekend after collecting a massive haul of thirty-three prestigious medals at the British Masters T&F championships held at the Moorways Sports Complex in Derby. Numerous WMAL club members displayed their talents in somewhat breezy conditions and won sixteen gold medals, five silver, and twelve bronze medals in a wide variety of events in their respective age categories; and  Melanie Garland claimed a superb hat-trick of gold medals and one bronze medal after successfully competing in the 100m, long jump, and triple jump competitions.  Juliet Sidney  (*pictured above centre on the podium) won two gold medals for her efforts in the 100m and 200m events, and sim

Report by Don Hale.  https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   North Wales Road Runner Steve Gardner hit the track running last Saturday and won a gold and a silver medal during the Welsh Masters Athletics championships, which this year was held at Yate, near Bristol, due to some unforeseen problems at the proposed original venue at Aberdare. And a second talented North Wales athlete and official,   Paul Brooks   (Wrexham AAC), was another worthy champion, and collected three gold medals in three different field events in his master veteran age cat. This prestigious T&F challenge was staged in breezy, and often quite showery conditions within the Avon/Yate Open meeting where the organisers generously included the WMAL championships, which attracted over 70 Welsh registrations. Report by Don Hale.  https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Brett Davis, a director of Welsh Masters, is urgently appealing to WMAL members for any volunteers – qualified or not - to help out at this weekend’s Welsh Masters Athletics championships at Yate. As previously reported, the championships were moved from Aberdare, and will now be included within the Avon/Yate open T&F events at Yate this  Saturday 12th August , and with over 70 Welsh Masters athletes competing, the event organisers have asked WMAL officials if some willing volunteers can make themselves available to help out with various tasks at this important meeting.
