Special Appeal - Report by Don Hale. At Hope House Children’s Hospices we know that Final Moments Matter and that the last moments of a child’s life should be as precious as their first. That is why our mission is to make sure that no one faces the death of a child alone, so that every family facing the death of a child gets the very best care and support when and where they need it. We need your help To give children and families Final Moments that Matter we need to raise £500,000  - the annual cost of providing the best end of life care for every child and family in this region who turns to us. In this Moment we are asking our community to come together as one, to embrace local families whose hearts are breaking and make sure they are not isolated in their pain and grief. Spooky Dark Run success for Hope House and Ty Gobaith Childen’s Charities.

A slightly early but rather spooky Halloween style 5k Dark Run took place last Saturday night from the RSPB site near Llandudno Junction, and followed the Conwy 5k parkrun course under lights to help raise funds for Ty Gobaith and Hope House Children’s charities. Rohan’s Run raised over £7,000 for Children’s Cancer Charity.

Photos by Steve Jeffery and Sandra.   Over £7,000 was raised for a children’s cancer charity last Friday night at Rohan’s Run in Deganwy, which attracted nearly three-hundred runners, who helped to commemorate the life of an extraordinary young student, Rohan Ingley, who tragically lost his life to leukaemia in August 2018, aged just 17. Originally named the Deganwy Dash, this popular race changed its name a couple of years ago in tribute to Rohan, from Abergele, who was a remarkable scholar and a very keen sportsman.  The event however has had to be postponed several times due to the Covid-19 pandemic and this year has been the first time since 2019 that it’s been possible to stage the race in his name.  Celebrated classical Welsh soloist Sioned Terry also

WELSH SOLOIST SIONED TERRY SET TO APPEAR AT  DEGANWY 5-MILE DASH AS A TRIBUTE TO AN EXTRAORDINARY YOUNG STUDENT. Report by Don Hale. Photo's courtesy of Rohan's family. The classically trained mezzo-soprano and Welsh soloist Sioned Terry will be a special guest at this month’s Deganwy Dash - now known as Rohan’s Run - and will perform shortly before the start of this special tribute race to an extraordinary young student. Sioned, from North Wales, is an internationally renowned artist and has shared the stage with a host of well-known musicians, singers, and entertainers, in addition to numerous outstanding Welsh male voice choirs throughout the UK and abroad. She has also performed on two separate occasions for the Royal Family, and at many top sporting events, including a special performance for the Welsh Commonwealth Games team. Report by Don Hale.   North Wales Road Runners received generous plaudits this week from officials at St David’s Hospice in Llandudno after raising more than £2,000 during the popular Nick Beer 10k race earlier this year. A Hospice official confirmed: “Many thanks to NWRRC, who organised the Nick Beer event in February this year, with the proceeds being donated to St David’s Hospice.  “Over 600 runners took part in the 10k following a route around the Great Orme, and 40 fun runners, along with 30 family members, ran the 1k fun run prior to the main event on the promenade. “In total, the event raised £2,306, which included a donation of £1,500 from NWRRC, from the race, and St David’s Hospice would like to thank Kay and John Hatton, Carla Green, and all at North Wales Road Runners, who helped to run and support the day. RNLI fundraising appeal for runners to support their Mayday Mile challenge... Report by Don Hale. Photo Steve Jeffery.   The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) has launched an urgent fundraising campaign for individual runners or running clubs to help them promote and support their Mayday Mile Appeal. *Flashback to the last RNLI appeal with John Hatton (*above right) from NWRRC handing a fundraising cheque from the club to an RNLI official in Llandudno. Catherine Tudor, the community manager, for North and Mid Wales, confirmed: ‘RNLI lifesavers answer Mayday calls and rescue others, but this May, we’re asking for your help, so will you answer our call? ‘As the beaches fill up this summer, our lifesavers will be at their busiest. With more people drawn to the water, more people will get into danger. It could be you or someone you love, and crews needs to be ready, and that takes lifeboats, training kit, lifeboat stations, and fuel. ‘Can you help get our lifesavers ready for resc

The Road Relay Championships return to Llandudno Promenade.

The North Wales Regional Road Relay Championships will be back in action again this year on Llandudno promenade, offering unique race opportunities for local athletic clubs and mixed ability runners aged from under 11s to seniors, including master veterans aged 70 plus. Organised by race directors John and Kay Hatton from NWRRC, in conjunction with  Paul  Brooks and the North Wales Regional Athletics Council, this exciting event will be held on Saturday 23rd April, following a two-year absence due to Covid-19 restrictions. The first race will start at 11am and will follow a 1km outward route starting along the promenade opposite Venue Cymru to the Cenotaph, and for the majority of runners as identified below, it will involve individual athletes running laps back and forth of either 2k or 4k, dependent upon their respective age categories, as part of a three-person relay
