Five Road Runners tackled Bangor cross country race.

Photographs by Steve Jeffery and Kay Hatton.   Five Road Runners swapped their trainers for spikes at the first cross-country fixture of the season at Treborth, near Bangor last Saturday in the North Wales League. Martin Green  used the race as a warm-up for the  Chester Metric Marathon  the following day and ran steadily around the course to finish 9th overall and 2nd in his MV45 age cat in 32.42 in the Senior Men’s race.  Stuart Culverhouse  (*pictured above) was the only other male member involved in this event and he finished 81st in 39.19 and 11th in his MV55 cat. Photos by Steve Jeffery.   Due to several fixture clashes only six North Wales Road Runners took part in the Saturday morning parkrun at Conwy, but they still recorded three age category wins and Steve Mason was the first male runner back home amidst 181 starters. Steve  maintained his recent good form to claim a notable victory, and he also won his MV45 age cat in 18 minutes and 59 seconds despite the blustery conditions and a puddle-filled course. Former NWRRC athlete  Chris Yorke  took the 2nd spot overall, and he too won his VM50 age cat in 19.21, with  Lewis Jones  finishing in 3rd place and 1st VM35 cat in 19.53. The 1st female runner was local junior athlete  Sophia Voice,  who also won her JM11-14 age cat in 11th place overall in 21.33. *Jamie Tharme (*above left) with veteran Rob Fryer. Fast dash finish for Josh Keogh with a new PB at Conwy parkrun - plus NW Cross-Country preview

*Fast dash finish for Josh Keogh (*above) with a new PB at Conwy parkrun. Report by Don Hale.   North Wales Road Runner Josh Keogh claimed a great new personal best time and he was also the first man home following a fast finish at Conwy parkrun last Saturday. Josh was nearly two minutes ahead of his nearest rival,  David Garcia  (Ilfracombe RC), in 18.54, with colleague  Jonathan Kettle  3rd in 19.16. In a crazy fast dash finish, six club members eventually recorded some amazing times of under twenty-minutes within the top-ten finishers.  The 1st female runner was  Anna Mackenzie  (Eryri Harriers) who also won her SW25 age cat finishing 10th overall in 20.09, and she was more than three-minutes ahead of her visiting rival  Sheridan McWilliam  (Birmingham Running and Triathlon Club) in 28th place in 23.19, and  Charlotte Jones  (Ilfracombe RC), who was 38th in 23.46. Martin and Carla Green star for Wales at Great Bristol 10k - plus other race results

Martin and Carla Green (*pictured above) starred for Wales at Great Bristol 10k Report by Don Hale.   Talented husband and wife Road Running duo Martin and Carla Green were selected for Wales last Sunday in the Great Bristol 10k and competed against quality international opposition. In a very fast race Martin was pleased with his performance and finished 22nd overall in a superb time of 33 minutes and 16 seconds to claim 4th place in his respective age category. Carla also enjoyed another excellent run finishing 218th overall and the 51st female athlete in a time of 39.55 and 6th place in her age cat.  Former NWRRC member  Gemma Moore , now with Eryri Harriers, was also selected for Wales in the same race and she finished 177th overall in 39.15 as the 35th female runner and 8th in her age cat. *Pictured above - Martin Green (*centre) with Carla Green (*left) and Gemma Moore at the international Great Bristol 10k race. Report by Don Hale.   Nine Road Runners tackled the revised Lake Vyrnwy half-marathon last Sunday with many athletes amongst the 800 plus entrants celebrating superb times in near perfect conditions. Endurance star  John Dalzell  was the first club man home in 122nd place in 1 hour 28 minutes and 36 seconds, closely followed by  Stuart Culverhouse , who was thrilled to go sub-90 minutes after his 37th attempt, finally finishing in 125th place in 1.28.47.  Ben Hudson  also had a good run out and finished in 158th place in 1.32.33, but his wife  Sarah Hudson  was the outstanding star of the team knocking an amazing nine-minutes off her previous best time. Report by Don Hale.   One hundred and sixty-five entrants at the Conwy parkrun stood in silence for a minute to pay tribute to Her Majesty the Queen last Saturday morning before the start of their 5k dash. It proved to be a day of missed emotions following recent commemorative events and special permission had to be granted to run this week’s parkrun as part of the course covers Crown land. The parkrun race director Kelly said: “Thank you to everyone who joined us this morning, runners, and volunteers alike. It was a lovely atmosphere and the silence in memory of Her Majesty the Queen was very moving.  “It was lovely to share a piece of living history with you all today. We are so fortunate to have the support of the RSPB at Conwy parkrun, so thanks again for today folks it was a rea
