Martin and Carla Green selected for Wales at International cross country race in Dublin.

Martin and Carla Green (*pictured left) have been selected to represent Wales at the BMAF international cross country race in Dublin next weekend. Report by Don Hale.   North Wales Road Running couple Martin and Carla Green have been selected to represent Wales in Dublin at the BMAF Master’s Cross Country International next Saturday 12th November.  This will be the 33rd running of this spectacular International cross-country event and returns after a two-year break due to Covid-19 restrictions. The selectors have also included many well-known and experienced runners including GOG Triathlon runners  Geran Hughes  and  Ann d'Alburqurque ,  Gemma Moore  and  Maggie Owen  from Eryri Harriers, together with Prestatyn AC athletes  Gordon Jones ,  Martin Corvriend, Steve Skates,  and  Gareth Hughes , in addition to many other very good club runners. There will be four races in total, in the following categories. Race 1: Men & Women 65+; Race 2: Women 35-64; Race 3: Men 50-64; Race 4:

Nine podium places and seven age category wins at Ruthin parkrun.

Report by Don Hale.   North Wales Road Runners took nine members to the Ruthin parkrun last Saturday morning to complete in another 5k club championship event as a replacement for a recently cancelled race and celebrated with unprecedented success! The team performed well again with all nine runners claiming podium places and seven also won their respective age categories, and many additionally recorded all-time PBs, as they made their debuts at this relatively new venue staged at the Memorial Playing Fields. In another very fast-paced encounter  Martin Green  was the first male runner home, and his wife  Carla Green  finished as the first female runner, with both additionally celebrating new parkrun all time PBs. Martin  ran in his 100th parkrun event and he knocked a couple of seconds off his previous best time to finish 1st overall in 16 minutes

Martin and Carla Green (*pictured above) starred for Wales at Great Bristol 10k Report by Don Hale.   Talented husband and wife Road Running duo Martin and Carla Green were selected for Wales last Sunday in the Great Bristol 10k and competed against quality international opposition. In a very fast race Martin was pleased with his performance and finished 22nd overall in a superb time of 33 minutes and 16 seconds to claim 4th place in his respective age category. Carla also enjoyed another excellent run finishing 218th overall and the 51st female athlete in a time of 39.55 and 6th place in her age cat.  Former NWRRC member  Gemma Moore , now with Eryri Harriers, was also selected for Wales in the same race and she finished 177th overall in 39.15 as the 35th female runner and 8th in her age cat. *Pictured above - Martin Green (*centre) with Carla Green (*left) and Gemma Moore at the international Great Bristol 10k race. NWRRC team packed well to claim four age category wins at Conwy parkrun.

NWRRC team packed well to claim four age category wins at Conwy parkrun. Report by Don Hale. Photos by Steve Jeffery.   North Wales Road Running Club members maintained their recent top form and returned in numbers to the Conwy parkrun, where they packed well and recorded nine podium places, including one event win, four age category wins, four second placings, and one third. *Martin and Carla Green (*above) both won their age cats and Martin was also the overall winner at the Conwy Parkrun last weekend. A team of fourteen athletes also included talented newcomer  William Williams  who finished 7th overall on his debut and 3rd in his MV45-49 age cat with a great new PB of 19 minutes and 17 seconds.  The parkrun event however was won by  Martin Green , who again won his MV45-49 cat in a superb time of 17.16.  Richard Eccles  ran well and finished 5th and won his MV55-59 age cat in 18.52.  *Richard Eccles (*above) won his MV55-59 age cat at Conwy.
