Report by Don Hale.    Two hundred and fifty-nine mixed ability entrants from all parts of the country helped to boost the numbers this week at Conwy parkrun in near perfect conditions. In stark contrast to last week’s icy course, this time runners were treated to dazzling sunshine and a warm breeze, but local club numbers remained down due to several competing fixtures.  The numbers however, also included sixty-three first time runners, twenty-three new PBs, and a large contingent from Manchester and the Midlands for the Colwyn Bay Metric Marathon the next day. The Road Runners  only had six members involved but still claimed four podium places including two age category wins and two second spots.  Stuart Culverhouse  led the team home in 20th place in 22.39, and he was 2nd in his MV50 age cat. *Richard Scamans (*above left) and Cheryl Frost. The NWRRC athlete   continued his recent impressive form to secure a narrow victory and additionally won his MV35 age cat with a new course PB of 18 minutes and 1 second.  This event again attracted plenty of additional club and social runners from across the UK, and yet, despite a fierce encounter for honours,  Alastair  just managed to stay ahead of the chasing pack, with  Aled Hughes  2nd in 18.24, and  Alison Campbell  (Sheffield University) 3rd, and the 1st Lady with a great PB of 18.32.  With Alison claiming the top female place,  Hayley Cooke  (Cheltenham & County) took t

Following the return to action after last week’s postponement due to heavy frost on the course, the Road Runners entered nine senior members and one junior amongst the 218 finishers, with the usual mix of quality club and social runners. It proved to be a very fast encounter, and at the time of writing the first-place finisher remained unknown as they probably forgot their essential barcode, so the credit went to  Andrew Bromley  (Prestatyn RC) in 2nd place with a great course PB of 17 minutes and 28 seconds, with club colleague  Alex Ryder  3rd with another well-deserved PB in 17.45. The first female runner was  Alison Campbell  (Sheffield University) in 18.32, with  Anna Drinkwater

Report by Don Hale.   Nine Road Runners took part in the Run Wales Loyalty 5k and 10k races last Saturday despite freezing conditions that included sleet, rain, and snow, and a tough course covered in mud with many deep puddles. The race organisers confirmed this was a non-profit event and offered a free bonus place to runners who had previously entered at least two Run Wales events this year.  Both races utilised what was meant to be a very fast, flat, and scenic course long the cycle tracks from Conwy Bridge to Deganwy Quay and back, but the adverse weather conditions made the races far more of a challenge than expected. The 5k race  attracted twenty-one runners, and it was won by  James Yarwood  (Abergele Harriers) in 16.39, with  Will Williams  from NWRRC claiming a deserved 2nd place overall, and 1st in h
