North Wales Road Runners dominated Abergele 5k and championship results.

North Wales Road Runners dominated the Abergele 5k and North Wales championships last weekend by recording a host of PBs, age category wins, and other podium placings, in addition to claiming both the male and female team prizes. It was soon raining gold on the windswept promenade at Pensarn on Sunday as NWRRC members smashed numerous records and collected seven age category gold medals and trophies, in addition to two runners-up awards and silver medals, plus a further two bronze medals, and two prestigious team prizes.  In a very fast and highly competitive race,  Scott Nixon  (Cardiff AC) was the first runner home in 15 minutes 47 seconds, with  Jon Bowie  (Shrewsbury AC) 2nd in 15.52, and  Steve Forsyth  (Prestatyn) in 15.57.  Martin Green  (*pictured above) from NWRRC led a strong team of twenty club members back along the cycle track to finish 4th overall and 1st

The North Wales virtual 10-mile championships attracted a star-studded field with 95 quality entrants battling hard for prestigious medals. NWRRC had thirteen runners competing and collected a total of eight medals, including two gold, four silver, and two bronze in the various age categories, with Jonathan Kettle being the pick of the team once again, finishing 5 th  overall, and winning gold in his M45 age cat. Held under strict pandemic restrictions, and run individually on their own patch, athletes had to choose their moment to run amidst a wet and windswept period. The 10-mile race was eventually won by Luke Northall from Wrexham in 56.07, but NWRRC had two runners in the top-ten and three in the top twenty, with their team of eight men and five women competing for honours. Athletes from NWRRC claimed seven prestigious awards, including five gold medals last weekend, at the North Wales virtual half-marathon championship event. Run as individuals on their own preferred local courses due to Covid-19 restrictions, the team of nine, all celebrated with an unexpected bag-full of medals, and some excellent finishing times, despite often competing on waterlogged trails, or on other challenging routes, in wet and windy weather conditions.                                                           Carla Green - another gold medal winner Golden couple  Martin and Carla Green  were the pick of the runners with Martin finishing 2nd overall and 1st in his M45 age category in 1 hr 13 mins 49 secs; whilst Carla was 20th overall, 2nd female runner, and 1st F45 athlete in 1.34.00, beating
