Photos courtesy of Lesley Goodson. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Three members of NWRRC travelled to the PGL Centre at Baschurch, near Shrewsbury, last Saturday afternoon, to take part in the latest highly successful cross-country fixture within the North Wales XC League. Will Williams  celebrated a podium result after claiming the 2nd spot in his respective MV50 age category following a determined run in the Senior Men’s race, finishing 49th out of 177 quality club entrants in a very respectable time of 30 minutes and 4 seconds.  Cheryl Frost  and  Kay Hatton  competed in the Senior Women’s event, which also attracted 158 top club athletes, with Cheryl 78th in 25.21, and 4th in her FV55 age cat, whilst Kay was 88th in 25.43, and she too finished

Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Four North Wales Road Runners swapped their trainers for spikes and competed in the combined Welsh Inter-Regional cross-country championships held at Dolerw Park, Newtown, last Saturday. The quartet, which included Cheryl Frost, Kay Hatton, Will Williams , and Steve Gardner, were all eventually part of the overall winning team that finished ahead of rivals West Wales, East Wales, and South Wales, to take the deserved plaudits. North Wales ladies won the female team prize with 121-points, whilst the male team finished 3rd, yet the overall points tally confirmed that North Wales were the outright team victors of this prestigious challen

Photos by Steve Jeffery. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   A dozen North Wales Road Runners took part in another puddled-filled parkrun event at Conwy last Saturday, where, despite the awful conditions underfoot, they still managed to win five respective age categories, plus one second placing, and one third. During an unusually bright and sunny morning,  Steve Mason  led the NWRRC team home with a determined performance over this near waterlogged 5k course in 4th place overall in 19 minutes and 32 seconds, and he won his VM45 age cat.  Will Evans  then celebrated a new course PB, but finished just six-seconds, and one place behind Steve, but won his VM40 cat in 19.38, with  Harry Driscoll  9th in 20.07, and he too won his SM20 age cat.   *Pictured above

*Martin Green had a great run repesenting Wales v England in the Chester Marathon. Busy weekend for the Road Runners at Chester and Bangor races...plus other results... Report by Don Hale.   https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com   This past weekend proved to be one of the busiest of the season for local runners with four major events taking place at Chester and in Bangor, including a fierce marathon rivalry between English and Welsh athletes, plus several parkruns, in Conwy and elsewhere. A gruelling schedule staged in unusually warm weather, included seventeen top North Wales Runners involved in the Bangor 10k, Bangor half-marathon, the Chester Metric Marathon, and the full distance, Chester Marathon. NWRRC  had two members selected to represent Wales last Sunday during the International match v England, within the  Chester Marathon , and both  Martin Green  and  Cheryl Frost , competed well, and proudly wore their prestigious and famous red vest. Report by Don Hale.  https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   North Wales Road Runner Martin Green recorded another tremendous result last weekend with victory at the Caernarfon half-marathon race, which also included the Regional Championships. The talented veteran athlete finished nearly two minutes ahead of his nearest rival, and he also won a gold medal and a winning trophy in his MV45-49 age category with an impressive time of just 1 hour 14 minutes and 35 seconds. *My report is based on chip times. Martin was followed by  Llyr Gruffydd  (Eryri Harriers) who was 2nd overall in 1.16.20, and he won his M35-39 cat, with  Scott Nixon  (Wrexham AAC) 3rd in 1.16.33, and he was only 13-seconds adrift of Llyr, and he won his M21-34 age cat.  The 1st female athlete was  Rachel Shipley  

Fast and furious for elite NW athletes at Mid-Cheshire International 5k challenge.

Report by Don Hale.  https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   It was another fast and furious encounter at last Friday night’s Mid-Cheshire Summer 5k Dash with the first 43 runners all dipping under 15-minutes, and just 5-seconds separating the top three male finishers. This very popular event, staged on an established ultra-quick course, also included an exciting international match between Welsh Masters and England Masters, with two North Wales Road Runners in  Martin Green  and  Kay Hatton  selected to proudly wear the red vests of Wales. *Kay Hatton (*above left) ran well for the Welsh Masters team, and (*right) Will Williams claimed another 5k PB at the Mid-Cheshire 5k.
