A Dozen GOG’s celebrated podium places and age cat wins at Conwy parkrun.

Report by Don Hale.   Twelve GOG Triathletes took part in last week’s Conwy parkrun and collected seven podium places including two age cat victories for the ladies, and a top three finish for Alun Brown. Alun  was the first club runner home in 2nd place overall, and he also claimed the 2nd spot in his MV40 cat in 18.24. He was followed by  Andy Jones  25th in 22.23, with  Michelle Farrell  30th with a new course PB of 22.56, and she came 1st in her VW40 age cat. Andy Brazier  (*pictured above) had a good run in 32nd place in 22.59, and he finished 2nd in his VM55 cat, with  John Farrell  49th in 24.30, with  Graeme Tunstall  55th in 25.11. Veteran  Liz Evans  was another cat winner of her VW70 cat in 64th place in 26.02, and  Nicola Tomlinson  finished well in 74th place in 26.29 and she was 3rd in her VW40 c

Report by Don Hale.   Martin Green was one of five North Wales Road Runners in the Chester 10k race last Sunday, but this week, he not only represented his club, but he also ran for Wales against England in a combined Masters 10k international event. Once again, he turned in another stunning performance and just missed out on a prestigious podium place finishing 4th in his MV45 age cat in 24th place overall in 33 minutes and 7 seconds. The talented athlete ran amidst a quality field of over 3,000 mixed ability entrants, including top international, club, and social runners, in a highly competitive event. The overall race winner was  Jonny Mellor  in 29.20, with  Omar Ahmed  (Birchfield Harriers) in close pursuit and finishing 2nd in 29.35, followed by  Charlie Hulson  (Deeside AAC) 3rd in 30.09. *Martin Green (*above  left ) with Richard Eccles. Entries open for Rohan’s Run - a special 5-mile Charity Dash at Deganwy.

*(Above) Flashback to the start of last year's Rohan's Run at Deganwy. Entries open for Rohan’s Run - a special 5-mile Charity Dash at Deganwy... Report by Don Hale.   Entries are now open for Rohan’s Run, previously known as the Deganwy 5-mile Dash, which will be staged on Friday 2nd June 2023, from Deganwy Promenade with a 7pm start. This special race in memory of local teenager  Rohan Ingley , starts and finishes by the race HQ on Deganwy Prom and follows the Conwy Estuary towards Conwy Castle, and then onto the RSPB, before returning along the same route.  The entry fee is just £14 for affiliated runners and £16 for non-affiliated runners with all proceeds donated to Ronald MacDonald House Charities and Young Lives v Cancer. All these charities were chosen by Rohan before he eventually lost his life aged just 17 in August 2018. *Will Williams (*above) was the  first  club man home at Conwy parkrun. Conwy parkrun dodged the snow and ice - and Charlie wins podium place in the Falkland Islands. Report by Don Hale. Photos by Steve Jeffery.   Conwy parkrun managed to dodge the snow last weekend, but numbers were down slightly due to a late thaw that still left the threat of ice on this problematic 5k course. Despite some potential problems, visiting athlete  Ian Lawton  (Mersey Triathlon) kept up a good pace and was the first man home in 19 minutes and 8 seconds, and he was nearly two minutes ahead of his nearest rival  Alun Brown (GOG Triathlon), who finished 2nd in 18.24, with  Alan Bryson  3rd in 18.57. The first female finisher was  Jackie Lee  on her course debut. Six of the best for GOG Triathlon members at Conwy parkrun. Report by Don Hale.   Six GOG Triathlon members claimed podium places at the Conwy parkrun last Saturday with two first place age category wins, two second, and two third placings. Steven Owen  (*pictured right) finished 12th and he was the first club man home in in 21 minutes and 11 seconds. He was followed by  Simon Cole  in 16th place in 22.00, with  Gary Jones  26th in 23.11, and  Jack Buckley  ran well and claimed a new course PB in 34th place in 23.40. Super veteran athlete  Liz Evans  continued her excellent form to win her VW70 age cat in 71st place in 26.00, and  Nicola Tomlinson  finished in 113th place in 28.47, and another top super vet  Ann d’Albuquerque  finished just behind Nicola in 28.49, to claim the 2nd spot in her VW70 cat in 114th place. *Simon Cole (*above left) with veteran Liz Evans. *Kay Hatton (*above) put in another great performance to win her age cat Kay and Mark win podium places at Anglesey half-marathon...plus 10k results. All race reports and results by Don Hale.   Veteran athletes Kay Hatton and Mark Mason were the outstanding stars of the NWRRC team at the Anglesey half-marathon race on Sunday with both members winning prestigious podium places including an age category win for Kay, and a 2nd place for Mark. The Road runners entered a strong team of ten athletes, and they all competed well against a strong entry of nearly 700 club rivals.  Mark Jessett  was the first club man home in 8th place overall in 1.18.11, with  Rory Middleton  29th in 1.25.38, and  Iwan Evans  46th in 1.29.18. *Mark Jessett (*above left) with Stuart Culverhouse. *Martin Green (*above) won a top podium place for his run and hat! Martin Green 3rd at Rhayader Round the Lakes race. Martin Green finished 3rd in the challenging Rhayader Round the Lakes 30k race last weekend and was satisfied with another great performance by this top NWRRC athlete.  After the event Martin confirmed: “ The best I could manage today was 3rd place in 1.48.44 behind two quality athletes, so I can’t complain at all, and I couldn’t have gone any quicker, so all in all a good day at the office and well worth the five-hour round trip. *Steve Forsyth (*above) returned to Conwy parkrun and performed well again. Depleted Road Runners team claim podium hat-trick at Conwy parkrun...plus some other race results. Report by Don Hale   North Wales Road Runners were down in numbers again at Conwy parkrun last Saturday due to numerous competing fixtures, but they still managed to snatch three podium places including two age category victories, and one second place finish. Steve Forsyth  returned from his recent travels to claim 2nd place overall in this challenging 5k event and won his MV40 cat in 17 minutes and 58 seconds, yet despite his best-efforts Steve was still unable to catch runaway athlete  Jacob Watson  who finished just five-seconds ahead of Steve on his course debut in 17.53, with fellow NWRRC newcomer  Robert Evans  3rd overall and 2nd in the same cat as Steve with a PB of 18.37. The Ladies event was equally competitive with former NWRRC athlete  Gemma Moore , now with Eryri Harriers, finishing as the 1st female

Most photos by Steve Jeffery.    It was another bright, sunny, but cold Saturday morning at Conwy parkrun last weekend as 239 entrants from all parts of the UK enjoyed the splendours of this attractive but challenging 5k course. This event included a very fast-paced dash by two young and promising athletes who dominated the parkrun from start to finish with  Tomos Land  the 1st runner home in just 17 minutes and 18 seconds, closely followed by rival  John Davies  (Eryri Harriers) in 2nd place, who was just twenty-seconds behind, despite a new PB of 17.38, with  Ian Slattery  3rd in 18.58. The 1st Lady was  Tara Truman  (Stroud) in 20.38, with  Alice Johnston  (Les Croupiers) 2nd in 20.44 and  Anna Smith  (Hedge End) 3rd in 20.50. Report by Don Hale.   North Wales Road Runner Steve Gardner swapped the tarmac for the mud last Saturday as he competed in the Welsh National cross-country championships at Brecon and won a prestigious bronze medal and a podium place in this high-quality race. The talented veteran athlete ran against two hundred top Welsh club runners over a challenging 10.35k course in this male master’s event and finished in 113th place in 41 minutes and 10 seconds to claim 3rd place in his MV60 age cat. After the race Steve said: “ I ran in the Welsh xc champs and managed to get 3rd place in my MV60 age group, the first 4 were all within I minute. 1st David Warren 40.25 2nd  Peter Sowerby  40.43, 3rd me 41.10, and 4th  Haydn Jones  41.14.” This latest result confirms his recent top form where he recently coll
